Show us your flashlights.
on: February 26, 2008, 12:27:44 AM
Just thought we could do with a flashlight collection and picture thread.  So here's my collection so far...

First up is my most recent addition to my collection, the Surefire 3P.  I am really liking this light and have been EDCing it since it arrived.  I like the fact it's an incan and the push on tail cap is real handy.

Next up are my Minimags, the AA and the AAA.  These were given to me by Calvin in the camera competition.  Cheers buddy.  :)

Next is my Fenix P1D-CE fitted with the Q5.  This is a great light and I have EDC'd this for a few months.  Currently though, this has been replaced by my 3P.

Here is the Streamlight Sidewinder.  This light is great and is the second flashlight that I EDC.  It has not left me since I bought it and it is used many times a day.

Next up is my Princeton Tec Tec-40 that I have upgraded with a mag xenon bulb.  This is a great light at a great price and is very bright.

Lastly is my Electrolumens Blaster III.  I love this flashlight.  It just looks and feels solid and is real bright too.

And here they are all together.

I'm back!!

That 3P sure looks at home there! :D

Don't look now but I think some dirty bum's been drawing on your wrist! :D

Are those stock bulbs in the Mags or LED upgrades?

The 3P sure is at home here.  :)  It's already been allocated it's own trouser pocket.  :D

Damn bums! :twak:  I must really take some more pics of my tattoos before Mike tells me off.  :ahhh

The Maglite are still standard.  I would like to upgrade the AA to an LED at some point though.

Oh BTW, I apologise about the different sized pictures. They haven't all been taken at the same time and I had resized some smaller than I had liked.  :D

The different sized pics don't bother me any!

Is that a SureFire in your pocket or are you just enjoying the site?  :P

The wife has the camera but here is what I have on my hard drive.

Surefire E1L - it's my EDC, goes everywhere.

Shown here with a Benchmade 525SBK-701

And with a Super Tool and Fisher pen.

Surefire 6P LED - My backpack/outdoor/fishing/hiking light

Shown with a Benchmade 520

My 3 Maglights ( a 4C, 2D, and AA ) all stay in my toolbox at work and I don't have any pics handy. I gave away my fenix L1D to a good buddy and have no pics of that either. I wil try and snap a couple pictures of my mags though - they are pretty beat up and look sweet.

Ben, I'm disappointed that you aren't EDCing the Blaster.  What gives?  You said you really liked it.

If you mean this one,

It's a decent light. Kind of has a blue tint to. It is well built and has a good pocket clip and good output.

I have nothing to show at this time. I have just started taking interest on flaslights but i already learned a few terms about LED latest technologies.

It is a great light! It's just so useful having the low and then the turbo (not so bothered about the levels inbetween but they have come in handy) I don't think i actually need any of my other torches now i have that, but its handy to be able to stash a couple in various places so i know i'll have a light source when i need one.

What do you feed the L2D?

I like the light a lot but have put off buying it because it seems to need Li-Ion or NiMH to function at it's peak.

A mixture of carrots and oats.......  at the moment its got 2000mAh NiMHs in it but i put them in about a week after i got it (about 2months now) and i've not noticed any drop in output yet, and its used fairly regularly. Usually on low or medium with short bursts of turbo. It did have alkalines at the start and it worked fine with a lot of use for that first week, but i then found my NiMHs and just put them in.

97 cents plastic light from walmart and $1 "super heavy duty" batteries from dollar store.  :D

Big ol mag 3D, with magled module that I modded with a seoul P4. at least 120 lumen out front on startup, over 60 for 23 hours or so, then many many more hours at 20ish.

That's all the photos I have right now on my computer.

I use Eneloops in mine.

The L2D has great regulation for alkalines, but you have to stay away from using "turbo" mode.  Alkalines just can't supply the amount of current required without dying a quick death.  This is not the fault of the flashlight, but the batteries themselves.  I can't think of any flashlight that can produce 120 lumens for a long period of time on 2AA Alkalines though, can you?

jzmtl,

How is the thermal management with the Seoul-modded MagLED module?  Does the thermal management circuit kick in quicker or slower than with the Luxeon, or about the same?

Just eyeballing it feels about the same to me. But unless you have two mags compare side to side the diminish in output is hard to notice, either luxeon or ssc.

Oh the only reason I did it is because I already have the mag module. If anyone wants to buy one, you can get the terralux version for about the same price, but better heatsinking, and some already have seoul installed (newer ones switched back to luxeon K2).

Not a collection but something :  :)

No name metal cased LED torch from my father's company as a present.
It looks slippy but the grip on this is not bad.
I think it can be used for self defence purposes as a kubaton.
It's pretty bright and tough, alltogether im happy with it. :D

It does look like a pretty stout light.  Thanks for sharing the pics.

It's nice to see this old thread again.  I need to update my collection pics.  It's changed considerably since the pics I posted two years ago.
