Going Nuts!!... Need Help!
on: August 19, 2012, 06:16:00 AM
Going nuts trying to figure out what brand, and where this knife was made. It came as part of a lot I won on eBay a few months back. The annals of Google have proven unworthy so I thought  maybe my fellow Multi-Tool fanatics would enlighten me with some valuable information.

Tang Stamp:

S.I.S. with what looks like a Volcano?

That's not one I am familiar with either, and a quick Google search didn't come up with anything for me either.  A few more photos and other details could help a lot.  Is there a country of origin stamped into the blade or anywhere else?

Hey guys, thanks again for the replies. I have looked the knife over and over the past month, need a toupe by now from all the hair pulling.  :ahhh

No stamp of the country of Origin, just the two I mentioned before. The "S.I.S" under what appears to be a volcano, and the "Stainless" (in arc form) over "Steel". Here's a picture of the knife that I took again today and a list of the tools on it. Also, on the scales, there is  an engraving that reads: "Best Ware".

Tools:
Large Blade
Scissors
Saw
Can Opener with exposed pull
Punch/Spike
Thick File/Nail File
Corkscrew

Any other help would be great. Thanks again guys.

It's Japanese in origin I think. The volcano looks more like Mt. Fuji. Looks like this

Also from the quality it looks Japanese to me.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Neat.  Ive never seen anything like that before, and Im always interested in anything with scissors.  My fist thought was an old Boker as it looks kinda like one to me, but on further digging I can conclude I have absolutely no clue what it is.

There are SIS mountains but I couldnt find a knife related to that.

That's exactly what I was thinking as well. :)

I thought Mount Fuji too, but this one seems more like an old French I have than Japanese made knives.

Wow, looking at that image of Mt. Fuji and the tang stamp, seems identical to me.  :D

I've  been struggling to find the origin, so hands down we can all agree this is a Japanese made knife?

Now, to figure out the company that made this knife. Still stumped on the S.I.S. tang stamp under "Mt. Fuji", more research I guess. It's a very bulky knife, and it's also very heavy, not something I'd be hauling around in my pocket as an EDC.

Thanks for all the help guys. Happy that I can narrow down the country of origin. If you guys have or find anymore info, just let me know. I feel accomplished, now time for some Rogaine foam and a beer.  :drink:

I'm thinking that it might be read as S.I.G rather than S.I.S.
