How different is it from the blade on the Duke of Edinburgh SAK?
Very different. See pic below. The hole in it was made by the previous owner who was thinking of adding a thumb nut for OHO

It's really useful - great for cutting obvs, but it's also perfect for spreading butter etc (as the name implies) and is different enough from a SAK blade to not feel you're doubling up if you carry both.

Rhubarb and Custard?

That's it. Although, Rhubarb was clearly incompetent, I always thought those birds were very unhelpful.

I can confirm the butter blade is a good one.

It's strange looking but cuts through zip ties, insulation, drywall and plastic tubes like a hot knife through butter...

i bought this kit a few months ago,the plan was to break it and keep the ratchet and maybe bit extender in my pocket pouch
[Maxped Micro].
i couldn't bring myself to do that yet and so far,i've used it in the workshop, tightened handle bolts and other odds and ends.
handy set,cool tools.

Wondering how the quality is. Here in the US, a similar model is sold by Stanley Tools as Craftsman. My first broke on a light duty task, the second often has some problems.  I'm guessing either who is making that model for Menard's and Stanley either ripped off or makes the Bosch.

the bosch set seems to be decent quality.
i'll put it to some heavier use in the shop, and decide.
probably will get the Vic ratchet set as well, since its available here as well.
apart from these 2,i have not come across compact pocket size ratchets here.

Yeah, one also cut most of the way through my thumb once so I can testify to the cutting ability of these!

I was of course working in a stupid and unsafe way at the time (up a stepladder, trying to open the battery casing on a smoke detector that was dangling from the ceiling cavity by its wiring...the ladder wasn't really tall enough so I was working above my head...some fool had epoxy glued something onto the body of the alarm that obstructed the battery hatch and I was trying to cut it off whilst holding the thing with my other hand). So I got what I deserved, really.

Any fans of the Teng Tools 1400B?  Great little tool!

These are 90mm long and really handy for tight spaces. There have been (at least) two variants, the newer one (at the front of the picture) is the same length but slightly thicker and heavier with a bigger 'head'. I guess this makes it more robust, but I'm not sure it's an improvement as the smallness and lightness of the original was a feature and it was certainly robust enough for anything you would likely want to use it for. But it's only a small change and the new model remains extremely handy.

I got the earlier one as part of this kit:

which is pocketable and allows you to do a lot (you can just see there is a 50mm bit extension sitting underneath the ratchet). You can also see above that I've added to the basic kit by putting four low-profile hex bits inside the four largest sockets. With these bits inserted directly into the ratchet I can get into a space with about 21mm clearance.

Yeah, I know

Bit of an exaggeration to say it went most of the way through my thumb, but I very nearly went to hospital with it.

On the plus side, I didn't fall off the ladder which is a bit of a miracle

Here in the US, I think Craftsman and Menard's sell what is pretty much a knockoff of that design. The Craftsman ones (even AFTER Lowe's replaced it on warranty) break easily. I like how they're reversible and take standard 1/4 bits (both the Chapman and Kobalt Chapman knockoff I have require special bits with ball bearing detents on them), so I might be getting one of those myself.

I think if you get the Teng set (or the ratchet by itself) you'll find the ratchet is pretty durable and won't easily break on you. The bits are good too.

That looks like a nice tool breakfast - runs just a little more expensive than the Topeak ratchet here in the UK.
Been using my Topeak a lot at work - great for dismantling barrel locks at work and getting in tight spaces. Also easily small enough to carry around and not have to go all the way back to the workshop for a driver all the time.

I couldn't see it on their site,  but I'm fairly sure Teng Tools used to do a neat go-through socket.

Here's the same thing by another marque -

You can buy the teng ones on amazon.

I have a full set of Halfords advanced go through ratchet spanners.
Solid ring spanner one end to break or to tighten were a lot of torque is required and the ratchet ring spanner the other end.
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.
