Topeak Ratchet Rocket Lite.

My set-up. There's a bobby pin clipped to the yellow fabric; it acts as a small clamp to remove any stubborn bits. There's a tiny bit of clanking with the extension and adapter, but it's negligible. A Torx T-8 bit is already in the butt of the ratchet...
(Image removed from quote.)

I've got a Ratchet Rocket and feel it is extremely well made. But I got it a few years ago, before the "Lite" kit came out. That set up looks pretty handy, I may just have to do an upgrade. :)

Yes, I see their bits have got the ball bearings and stops for snug fit,  different from the regular bits I have . Thanks.  :salute:

eBay wants way more than the Chapman site. I got the CM-13 and extender for $11 with shipping.

I've got one of the Wera ones like lowindo - absolutely brilliant. I carry that with a set of 1/4" sockets plus some tape and a little electrical screwdriver for when I need something to supplement my Wave.

That looks great - is it just a band of some kind of something more form fitting?

its the same plastic bit holder I've always used.

if you cut into the spacer between two bit slots and make into one the Chapman slides in like it was made for it.

fwiw, the Bosch ratchet isn't anywhere near as nice as the Wera one. It isn't as comfortable to use and I keep flicking the direction change leaver by accident.

Bump!

Trying to decide between Chapman / Topeak / Victorinox ratchet, I was wondering if someone could be kind enough to count how many teeth have the last two (I already read that the Chapman has 20).

Thanks for your help !  :) (I guess it would also benefit anybody looking for this answering too!)

The thing that made me choose the Topeak was that it's got a reversing lever, where the Vic ratchet has to be turned around...

Doesn't that make it less "strong" than the Victorinox? The lever might break/jam/stuck. With Victorinox, the "mechanism" would be sturdier, right?

It's a bit ratchet, not a bolt ratchet

I also think the lever doesn't take stress. The gears do...

I count 36 clicks on my Vic ratchet to make a full 360 deg turn.

Granddad gave me a 1316 set. Unlike the "Pocket Pack" it has a decent selection of bits, and still fits in a front pocket. I used to carry it a lot. Need to gather everything back up, replace the missing bits, and put it in my small tool bag I keep in my room.

It's funny that this thread should come up right now- we may or may not be working with Chapman to distribute ratchets through The Multitool.org Store:D

You know, in case anyone is interested in that sort of thing....

That is quite a coincidence, Grant!
Extra interesting that this thread came up the same week I found this in a Rubbermaid container under my bed. I don't remember where it came from.  :ahhh

Reversible as well with a 1/4" socket adapter. Socket adapter is covered with a finger wheel when using the hex bit holder. Ball detent bit holder is a good feature as well, as I dislike magnetic bit holders(I use a lot of fine steel at work and the wool dust will find any magnets within a few feet). :ahhh

20 teeth chatter. :)

Grant, I'll hold off ordering right now. Maybe you can get a deal with the MTO logo on the boxes. Then I'll place my order here.  :hatsoff:  :gimme:

That was an option last month, but unfortunately we weren't able to take advantage of it.  Perhaps we will have another option in the future.

For now, if anyone is interested in placing an order for one, please feel free to send me a PM and I can add it to my initial order.... although with the Canada Post strike on now and the hold up on the hats, I am not sure when that will be.  And, I am not going to take any money from anyone until I do, but it would be good to know who is interested.  :D

Ahhh thank you Magentus!

Chapman - 20 teeth (18° arc) - 22.6 Nm
Victorinox - 36 teeth (10° arc) - 30 Nm
Topeak - 52 teeth (7° arc) - 30Nm

Seen like that, it's hard to hesitate (and here, the Topeak is also the cheapest ! 26 EUR shipped).

Topeak should work just fine in very tight places ! But wouldn't the teeth be tiny/fragile compared to Vic' or Chapman ?...

I've had mine for a couple of years and used it a lot. You can apply a lot of pressure to it - not broken yet!
