Fun with Subcoms
on: May 19, 2013, 07:31:15 PM
So what happens when you mix a Boker Subcom 42,a Subcom Rescue knife, and a set of torx bits?

I've had the Subcom42 for ages, but never quite got on with it.I love the size, style and weight, but could never get an edge on the blade, well at least until I got my Lansky... >:D

I've been sitting looking, and wondered if I could remake the 42 with all black parts?

The thing of course,is the 42 doesn't lock, the Rescue is a liner lock   :ahhh

Here's how they met after meeting Mr Torxie >:D

Simple so far...

The only difference between the two is behind the pivot hole...the squared off section on the Rescom engages the liner lock.

The 42 went together just fine...the Rescom?Well...the lock engaging section needs filing down a little as the lock isn't engaging...or I might leave it as its now UK legal

There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

With the profile of these tools, i.e. how slim they are, Boker could go for an SAK version, and have multiple layers. At the moment only 2; I'm sure they could think of more (i.e drivers, openers, file, etc.)

That's an interesting idea, but I think the liner lock scales might be the limiting factor

Well, you could have a lock just on the tool nearest to the scales, or leave off the locks altogether.

I am talking more about something from the manufacturer, rather than a custom project, although if that was possible, would be awesome.
