Deluxe Tinker pliers.

Just wondering if someone can shed some light on me about the Deluxe Tinker and the lack of a nail nick. Is it because the Scissors block it and make the nail nick not needed since you have to deploy the scissors by the front end?

As far as I know, yes.  The only models that come with the nail nick on the pliers are the 111's, because the frame of the tool is so long that the end of the pliers doesn't stick out past the end of the liner like it does on the 91's.

Has that Alox been modified, or is it stock?  If it's been modded, the pliers would have come from a 111, as far as I know.

Yup none of the 91mm SAKs with pliers will have the nail nick, so those were probably harvested from a 111m SAK.

Personally, I'd prefer it if Vic put nail nicks in all their pliers.  It would be useful on 91's too.

Either that, or I get one side of them jammed up under my thumb or fingernail... that's a real pleasant experience...

Hmmmm I don't think those pliers came from a 111mm. I know this because it's a mod I did and at the time I had no 111mm pliers ???
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Hm.

Was there a change in the pliers form at some time in the past then?  Perhaps they all originally had the nail nick, and Vic decided to stop putting it on the ones in 91's to save a few pennies per unit in manufacturing costs?

The one side is also shorter and thinner than the regular 91mm one. Was that done to get it to work in the 93mm frame?

Steve, are you sure these pliers came from a Vic and not some other SAKalike?

They look smaller and the handle is different than the ones on the Deluxe Tinker nex to it in the OP.

I bet they came from tom?  I  bought a few from him bway back when and some had the nail nick.  They had to origially come from a 111mm unless it was factory error.

I don't think the pliers have been modded at all. I have been examining them against other VIC pliers and they seem like they are legit VIC pliers. They are very solid and feel exactly like all other vic pliers. They feel so good I had never even questioned it not being from a Victorinox. There is no signs of the pliers being modified in any way either.

If you mean the thinner handle thats just so they can  close all the way on a 93 mod.

Ironically it also makes them more comfortable to use than stock ones.  :D
