OHT owners club!
on: September 23, 2012, 10:33:42 AM
It's highest time to start this thread here on forums!

I've placed my order for OHT and I expect it to arrive (from USA to Poland) by the mid october! Has anyone laid his hands on this great tool already? Share the pictures as I will do as soon as I receive my new tool!

Well I messed that up! Neglected to see this was the leatherman sub, not Swiss. Alas, the problem with the "show unread posts" button  :twak:

I have had an OHT for a couple days and it's now getting broken in. Flicking open the pliers is very easy and becomes second nature (it's all in the wrist). One reason I would grab my various dedicated needlenose pliers is because fine work is MUCH easier with spring loading. I have been using my right ring finger for a "human spring" on leatherman tools for decades. Having the handles close together when the pliers are nearly closed also makes this easier.
My damn camera battery pack is dead- I will post pics in a few hours.

One problem I foresee with this tool (I don't own one yet) is the handles coming together and pinching the palm like the Gerber MP. Is this the case dan bomb? What you tell me may convince me to buy or not to buy.

Well I had to try pretty hard but I did manage pinch my hand if I hold it a certain way. I doubt it's gonna be a problem- I usually grab things slowly anyhow.
The only negatives I have found so far:
1 The torx bolts are 2 different sizes and 2 need the bits with holes and the other 2 do not.
2 it is larger and heavier than a charge or wave with shorter blades (the plier head slider takes up a lot of space)
For me the positives far outweigh the negatives and I do not regret the purchase.

Where did you order? I ordered at cabelas.com and they say:

TBH modern Gerbers don't really do that easily either, though the original Multiplier was certainly guilty. :)

I think in its ugliness is a form of beauty, a beauty of functionality rather than aesthetics. Its a look which can work very well for something like a tool.

The only problem is, as has been pointed out by many before, for the size of this tool, its plier head and tools are too small.

If LM are making sliding plier heads now, would be really interested to see a juice sized tool, which just the most must have tools on it (e.g. scissors, screwdrivers/bit driver, awl, openers, etc).

I'm in!

Are everyone's pliers seperated like the last photo? Just the very tips of mine touch. (I know, I'm picky).

I can confirm that the two larger, security torx screws are T10s.  The smaller screws at the plier head end are something smaller than a T7, which is the smallest I have on hand.

My pliers touch at the very end as well.

Most needle nosed pliers are like that. IMO it is a good design, when gripping something thin you get even pressure along the jaws.

I called Cabelas in Wichita yesterday and the OHT was not in stock. They also informed me no Cabelas store in the US has them yet.

Stopped in the Charleston, WV during my trip.  It is probably the smallest Cabelas in the country and is not like the Full sized ones I am used to.  The knife selection was not very good and they did not have a OHT in stock.  They were not sure when they would get the OHT in, if we want it now we will have to order it online.

Personally I want to feel it in my hands before I order.

Don't have one yet. But have a coyote tan OHT pre-ordered.

My pre-order was moved back to Jan 2013. LM contacted KC last Thursday and said they were having problems. So I cancelled my pre-order and will get one else where.   :)

Leatherman informed me that they will make a limited amount of OHTs this year and will start a full production next year - my guess is that they need to reset machines that now make other multitools - maybe they will retire some other model(s)?

We will see. I'm glad that my OHT has arrived to my uncle and is now being shipped to Poland! I extept it on next monday!

It' still not available here in Poland.
