I'm impatient, and so I'd probably use my Dremel under water.  I also don;t have a sink large enough to maneuver a hacksaw inside.  Bear in mind I have a flex shaft attachment, so I wouldn't be putting my Dremel itself into the sink! :D

I wouldn't use the dremel underwater.
Maybe just the bit underwater....you know...current and water.... :D

Forgive me for the ignorance, but couldn't you just score the rod with a diamond file (like a leatherman one) and snap a piece off?

Yeah, I have a flex shaft attachment so the electrical part of the Dremel will be several feet away! :D

Whacking away at a fire steel with a hacksaw in a book store?  That doesn't seem like the brightest idea I've ever heard! :P

Glad to hear you've not burnt down the south of england (as much as it pains me to admit it :D)

No sparks then? You could have told us all a great story about how you had to put out a huge fire using the hose attachment on your SAK and we'd have been none the wiser! :D :P

Now you have me curious- I have a few fire making doodads, and now I kind of want to take my Dremel tool and a cut off wheel to it to see what happens! :P
