Where did your user name come from?
on: September 27, 2012, 06:16:23 AM
Thought this would be an interesting topic. If it's been discussed before please someone point me to the door and kick my butt out or  :twak:

Min came from a forum that I use to get into using a backdoor method. The username stealth had already been taken so I came up with stealth007s. The 007, of course, from my favorite tv character James Bond and the "s" from my last name, Saffron.

Any others?

My mommy gave me mine.  :D

However, since you asked, I still sign all my posts "Def" which is short for "Defender" which is the name I used on a lot of forums and other sites for many, many years- since the mid/late 90's in fact.

I originally used that name on this forum as well when I started it so that online folks would know who I was.  Eventually as we started dealing with folks outside the forum and in the real world I changed it to my real name so that outsiders could see what we were doing on the forum and know who I am- this was primarily for manufacturer reps and the like rather than explain to them who I was and why I didn't just use my real name on the forum.

Same here. :D  My parents had their honeymoon in Wales and rather liked the name, forgot about it when they had my older brother but it came back to them when they had me.  I've also got some Welsh family so having a Welsh name is appropriate, despite being Scottish myself.

Type of British canal boat. 50ft narrowboat with traditional stern

Originally they were built in an open format for carrying cargo - the stone for the UK Houses of Parliament would have originally shipped in something similar (albeit horse drawn) from North Anston (a few miles from me) via canal and river all the way down to London - but these days they're built with cabins, an engine room, and fitted out as leisure craft or liveaboards

The cantankerous but occasionally useful member, formally known as 50ft-trad

Original band name when we signed our first record contract about 12 years ago. It's a contraction of new and euphoria. Band then changed the name to Plutonik, but I couldn't let Nuphoria go to waste so I used it online and found that 99.9% of the time I could have it as my first choice for email/user names etc.

I have many friends who call me "Nuphy" or "Nuph" in real life!

When my sons were young, they would go completely limp in order to escape my grasp.  Maybe you parents know what I'm talking about.  Even my cat does this.  I coined the term "gravitynoodle" to describe it, and used it as my name on the interwebs.

Later, it dawned on me that gravitynoodle sounded like erectile dysfunction.  So I changed it to powernoodle.

And thus the legacy began.

The Jersey Devil is a legendary creature originally reported in the Pine Barrens of South Jersey.  It has the body and head of a horse, batlike wings, and has been seen all over the state and surrounding areas since the 1700's.  Napoleon Bonaparte's older brother Joseph reported seeing it when he lived in exile here in NJ, and in 1909 police in Camden and Philadelphia opened fire on it.  The 13th Leeds child certainly gets around!  >:D  It also happens to be the name of a hockey team which I casually follow.....  ::)

I needed a yahoo e-mail name. 'Lynn' was taken, 'Lynn1' was taken, 'Lynn2' was taken, etc. etc. The first word that popped into my head to add to 'Lynn' was 'LeFey', like Morgan LeFey from Arthurian legend.
