Just my real name and surname.....

Used the nic Gilgamesh back in the day......

Just want to ask, what's the reason for not using your real name?  Fear of identity theft and assorted social engineering hacks?
There was a Gilgamesh on edcf. You?

I use Enkidu on ebay. :D

Too many times, even around here.  We have such a good community here that everyone gives the benefit of the doubt, but that only allows the jackasses to run rampant that much longer before they are banned.

Sadly this is true. But I don't think I would trade what we have here now though. I have meet a lot of good people here and we have had some new addictions(Higgs, well maybe...lol) here who have been pretty cool to get to know.

I think Facebook helps with that a bit, I have fly fishing friends all over the world,  and I've managed to meet up with a surprising number of them despite having never left the Dark Continent.  :D

Mine is an intentional mis-spelling of a character from an old manga called that saw brief popularity in the US in the mid90's.
I originally took the name for online gaming around 2000 and have used it all over the place since.
And yes it is a female name, support mage and ranger class characters used to be fixed as female in a lot of games.

My nickname is a type of music style from Finland. Mostly folk / party music it seems. A very popular band is Eläkeläiset (FYI check out youtube). They use to cover many songs in every style from pop-music to heavy metal. When I was younger and still out on parties we like to listen to that music when we drunk too much and the night was slowly becoming the new day. It is rather fast, faster than polka and still in the 2/4 frequence.
Still love to listen to it. I don´t understand a word, though. Finish is very difficult to understand when it´s not your mother tongue, at least it seems.

I know this is an old thread but hope you guys don’t mind me sharing...

Mine is a nick name given by my college buddies back in the Phillipines... They figured that since my name was unique to them and that I’m Indonesian, jaya_man was way cooler than Java Man

Here's mine, it comes from the headlights of an old truck I had for many years (old trucks have been a hobby), and also my favorite time of day. Since I have driven so many miles (for a living mostly) it is fitting that it's from something that's always looking down the road. The R is my first initial tacked to the end, which turns it into a verb. Been using it since the late 90's, when I got my first computer.  :salute:

Mags, I read that yours is from a song, but what does it mean exactly? What does it have to do with regicide anyway?

The song is called 'Kill the King' by one of my fave bands (Masters of Reality). The lyrics mention two bullets made to kill a king, named Eraticus and Magentus. It caught my imagination and stuck in my mind only to surface while I was musing on a user name.

Here's the song if you're interested:

Another great song called 'Kill the King' by the mighty Rainbow:

Before I got into SAKs, my main hobby was wrist watches.
Battery powered watches where the exception since I liked mechanical watches (hand winders and automatics) more because of their craftsmanship, inguinity and complexity.
(Which I find in SAKs too! But these I can maintain properly myself and are a less expensive hobby)

Mechanical is a username that is sometimes taken, so I mixed in my real name, Nick. Never had a problem signing up anywhere ever since.
