I gave in... I bought a Farmer

Finally found someone who didn't want to charge as much again as the knife for postage so I pulled the trigger.

Today I got my first alox SAK, by coincidence exactly a farmer. I had read so many good things about these SAKs that my expectations were really high.
I have to admit that after taking it in my hand they were exceeded: great look, great feel, great grip, and most of all I noticed that once the blade is fully opened it's very firm, more than my other "regular" non-locking SAKs.

I just wish Victorinox expanded their Pioneer series.

You mean you bought your first farmer... :D  Alox saks have a way of multiplying.
I'm not sure I would have fully grasped your comment before holding one. :gimme:

So, many people buying farmers!   :tu:

I think this sudden "coercion" I mean "conversion" of people buying farmers is cause for a celebration!!!

Go and celebrate by ordering farmers to reward yourself for being so clever!!!

I nearly bought a Farmer to reward myself for resiting the temptation to buy a Farmer

Ah ha, you see with THAT farmer ... if after examining thoroughly for several hours I didn't find scissors, corkscrew, toothpick, tweezers and a mini eyeglass driver .... I'd still have an enormous smile on my face  :D

Amici,
So did I, and find it makes great EDC around the office when proper dress is required.. The Farmer along with the Spirit also make great companions when in the field, from a day hike, to a few days backpacking, it does the job..

Cheers,
Serge

I really like my new farmer.. it's got a really solid quality feel to it.

I do wonder why the saw rides so high though. On regular Vics it's usually almst flush with the liners.. how come they've made it sit higher in these knives?

Is it anything to do with it pivoting the same end as the large blade when usually it pivots on the opposite end (like a Huntsman etc)?

The nail nick on the large blade is partially obstructed by the saw - There must be a logical explanation.  :-[

Yeah.. I wonder if it'd be possible to grind a bit off the tip of the saw to make it ride lower. Then it might be hard to open though.

I will get a farmer too, I would love a blue or yellow one. But they are pretty rare, black one is also cool tough :D. IMO almost perfect tool combination, it only lacks scissors but I have seen people modding it without too much problems.

Pro's:
Alox
Bigger blade
The Awl
Good tool combination

Con's:
For some people the keyring feels uncomfortable.
Sometimes quite expensive in comparison to stuff like the huntsman.

Btw I was talking about the black farmer, because I really wanted a coloured one.
I have found one on ebay but its suprisingly cheap, can somebody verify its real?

the price looks reasonable. It is in euros, not dollars.

I have found that I don't like MTs with any kind of coating that can flake or wear off. So, I'm not a fan of Black Oxide or any coating on aluminum. So, I went with the (happily, least expensive) silver Farmer.

I REALLY like the silver one. I'm going crazy waiting. I'm still waiting for Felinevet to figure out a way to have instant delivery. Place order, doorbell rings. :D

Soon...... :mail:
