I have found that I don't like MTs with any kind of coating that can flake or wear off. So, I'm not a fan of Black Oxide or any coating on aluminum. So, I went with the (happily, least expensive) silver Farmer.

I REALLY like the silver one. I'm going crazy waiting. I'm still waiting for Felinevet to figure out a way to have instant delivery. Place order, doorbell rings. :D

Soon...... :mail:

When did you order it Lynn, and when are you expecting it to arrive?

They really are excellent pocket knives. I bought my wife one about 4 years ago and despite constant offers for swaps she wouldn't part with it so I had to get one of my own on this forum in exchange for a Wenger Minigrip. I don't regret it!

I ordered it a few days ago and expect it to arrive right... about... NOW!!! :mail:

I want this pic to also serve as my belated thanks to Ash for the cool paracord giveaway for the 4th of July.

I think I was right in ordering the silver. Man... it looks NICE. Feels nice, too. I am quite pleased with the grip on it. The main blade is very stout. The saw is slightly longer than the one on my Spirit X, and a bit shorter than on the Trekker. As the Spirit's saw presented no problem in use, I expect the Farmer, which i assume will be more comfortable in-hand, should do fine. I haven't had a chance to give the awl a go, but it is nice and sharp. The cap lifter will get a real-world test this evening. :D

Gotta have a cap lifter for the chance encounters with adult beverage, ya know.

Wohooooo!!!! Super-happy-new-SAK-day!!  :climber:

I will get a farmer too, I would love a blue or yellow one.

Have you checked EDCSource and specifically FelineVet's store?

http://www.edcsource.com/auction_details.php?auction_search=1&auction_id=113710&option=basic_search&src_auction_id=&keywords_search=&buyout_price=&reserve_price=&quantity=&enable_swap=&list_in=&results_view=&country=&zip_code=&username=&basic_search=farmer   :pok:

Thx for the site did not knew of that one yet.
But 70 dollars is quite expensive, even more if you compare it to that black one.
And as I live in the Netherlands, this can give a problem too:
We ship Priority International Mail. We cannot guarantee delivery internationally as there are too many variables that we cannot control. We will do our best but no refunds or replacements will be given for items lost in transit.

Btw I was talking about the black farmer, because I really wanted a coloured one.
I have found one on ebay but its suprisingly cheap, can somebody verify its real?

http://www.ebay.nl/itm/Victorinox-Knife-93mm-Alox-FARMER-Black-LTD-2011-Italy-/350559685511?pt=Campeggio_Attrezzature&hash=item519efc4b87

the price looks reasonable. It is in euros, not dollars.
No worries; that's the real deal they made a couple black runs for a couple European countries.  Right now it's not too hard to track down the black ones.

Okay, so I've stared long and hard at this thing, and I have to ask... are the layers thicker than the 91mm models? It looks to me like the flathead driver/cap lifter is thicker than the one on my tinker, and the spine on the blade also looks thicker on the Farmer than on my Tinker. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, the tools on 93mm are beefier than on 91s.

Going further, are the tin and bottle openers on the vintage Farmers (the 'brushed' steel ones) even beefier than the already beefier modern ones?
