Great contest you two.
For clarification.  Do you have to do the scraping out of the pumpkin with the sak also? Or can other more appropriate tools be used?
Thanks

You mean you don't have a SAK with the gourd scraper blade?   :P  I would say that a different tool would be ok for that, but all cutting needs to be done with a SAK.

Wow!  This is a great idea guys!  I'm in!

I usually end up doing all the jack-O-lanterns for our family anyway, because my kids and my wife get too overwhelmed by the process... they usually get grossed out before they finish.

Last year I used my Dremel and the router collar and a bit for some of the carving I did, but obviously that's going to be out for this contest...

I'll have to put together a line-up of SAKs with various tools for this now... I can see that I'll finally have another use for the orange peeler on my Exec!   :tu:  Oh!  And I can use the saw on my PER Ranger 179 too!

Ooh!  Ooh!!  And, I'll bet the file on my Work Champ will be great for chamfering and shaping edges too...

Hot dang!  This is gonna be fun!!!  :D  Now to get my secret blueprints out... Mwah hah hah hah hah!!!   >:D

It'll make it that much easier for me to win then!  Mwah, hah, hah, hah, hah!!!   >:D

I'm a wicked pumpkin carver, if I do say so myself...  gonna get my son in on it too, and if we win, I might even give him the prize!

And there's nothing in the stated rules about not being able to use other props as an addition to the carved pumpkin either...  as long as I use only SAKs to work on them or include them in the carving job...
