Got this email from the NRA Store and this was one of the featured products. Anyone know anything about it? From the description, it sounds like a stout little knife. Ideas, comments?  Check it out HERE

A US-made knife with CPM-440V for $70?  Smells a little funky to me.

Probably because it's the NRA store. They are usually a bit more so they can "raise" money.

I think he meant it's too cheap for what you get. Also 440V has been out of production for many years...

When Mantis started out the were blatantly lying about their steel, everything is s30v and 154cm, well it turned out they were aus8 at best. I don't know if this has changed but I don't trust their spec anymore.

That's how I understood it too. I was just posting this to see what others thought of it. I won't at all buy it, just wanting other's opinions.

Steel type aside, a 2.375" inch blade that is .25" thick in a folding knife that weighs 5 oz. strikes me as a deeply impractical design for any purpose I can conceive of

I have never used any Mantis knives but their reputation is a bit tarnished..

I am sure, however, that the NRA would have tested them in some way before putting their name on them..
Kelly: "Daddy, what makes men cheat on women?
Al : "Women!"

Bingo.  I don't think one of the bigger makers like Buck or Kershaw could do 440V that cheap, much less a company like Mantis that doesn't have nearly the economy of scale.
