The Xtract is back...
on: November 29, 2006, 07:52:23 PM
It took a little over a month, but I received my Xtract back from Buck today.  They sent me a new one.  They even sent my old sheath back with the new knife... so now I have two sheath's  :)

If you took all the intestines out of your body and stretched them end to end... you would die.

I really like the X-tract.  I just wish the pliers were a little stronger.  It's cool the way you get to all the tools with one hand.

Cool!  Make sure to let us know if the steel seems to be better this time around.

So far, this one seems a little stiffer than the last one.  The tools don't open as smooth.  Maybe I'm just being picky though...

I have only seen it from the photos on the net, the blade end has a screw but I have seen what seems to be a rivet at the bottle opener end. Is the tool held together with alan or secure 6 point torx screw? Have you tried a 1/8 to a 1/4 turn to try and free it up a bit or is it the components themselves that appear to be grinding? My curiosity about this tool is killing me I just wish they would get some over here for sale.

It's got a 6 point torx at the blade end.  I haven't tried loosening it up.  It's not bad enough where I want to mess with the tool.  It's just a little stiffer than my first one.  All the tools still open easily.

After a bad experience a couple of years ago with UK customs I now let other people do the importing of what in this country are called dangerous weapons. I lost my whole collection because a person I bought a knife from was also selling things like pepper sprays and had shipped banned items to UK citizens. I had bought nothing illegal but they had the papers to prove I had dealt with him and in there eyes could have something to do with what he was selling. They took my collection of knives at that time but more important they took all the computers in the house that my son uses for work. It took them 4 months before we got them back. One can only guess to what they hoped to find  :-\
Nothing personal just scared stiff of importing stuff.
