Yeah, we're seeing some pretty shocking footage and hearing about numerous fatalities. :(  Don't take any chances guys and stay safe. :salute:

Thoughts going out to all the people of the Caribbean, a high number of deaths are being reported there as well. :(

Checking in real quick from a friend's computer.  We lost power at 8pm yesterday, overall we got lucky though.  Lots of coastal flooding, and the pictures from the city are terrible!  Not much flooding here, unlike from Irene last year.  Much more wind than rain.  My family is all ok, both here in NJ and out on Long Island.  I talked with nelly1974 last night, he had no power and there was some flooding nearby.  Haven't been able to get in touch with him today......  :(  Hope everyone else is OK!

JD... very glad to hear you and yours are all safe.

I'm kind of hoping to hear from Ash. WV is getting hammered with a blizzard.
EDIT: Looks like she's posted this afternoon, so I guess she's okay.

I'm okay so far. Still worried about flooding here as the creeks and rivers are taking in lots of water. I was in the rain section but my mom is in the blizzard. I haven't been able to get in contact with her since the phones, power, ect are all lost at here place in the mountains. She burns wood though so she should stay warm. Take care all and thanks for asking, it means alot.

Ash, if you're mom is anything like my family, this is nothing new and nothing to worry about. I'm sure she's fine. But I know you'll feel better once you hear from her.

I'm on Long Island New York.  We lost power Monday night.  We have power lines down in several places on my street so I'm it sure when we'll get it back.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Careful with those lines. I hate above ground power lines.

Wind has picked up a fair but, but the rain is still fairly light.  South Jersey is getting hammered though.  If nelly1974 or Big-Target see this, hope you guys are OK down there!  :salute:

That must have been a hell of a gust of wind!  I've seen those dogs hit by cars and not fall over!

Good to hear you are safe!

Update on my mom. Her BF was called out to work Monday night as he works for the phone company and cuts timber. There is no way to get to my moms house as they got a little over 3' of snow. Her BF hiked 2 miles in to check on her tuesday night and on his way a tree fell on him. His legs were hurt but he finished hiking in and passed out in front yard. My mom found him there and dragged him in house. He refused to get medical treatment so she bangaged him up and he hiked back to his truck and went back to work. No one has been able to get to my mom since then. Today my moms bf's son hiked the 2 miles in to bring her out and when he got there she couldn't leave as she was climbing mountain earlier in day to get a little cell service to let us know she was ok and fell badly hurting her knee. Tomorrow he is going to hike back in and try to get her out of there. There is trees everywhere and no way to drive to her. We are all praying her knee can handle it and get her off the mountain.

Okie my moms BF had his daughter call my sister tonight with all details. Okie was at her house as both legs are swollen badly and cut up.

I hope they can get mom off the mountain tomorrow as there is no electric or anything. She does have heat as they burn wood.

That doesn't sound good at all Ash.  Is there not a good case for her to get an offical medical evac?  Hope it all goes well.

Ash,

Gareth has an excellent point.  They may not be able to get a helicopter in there, but I'm sure there's mountain rescue in WV.  They would have rescue sleds and guys trained to help her out with snowshoes  or XC skis.

Still no power at home.  >:(  Town's slowly coming back on line, but it's gonna be a while I think..... Managed to do laundry and get a hot meal at a friend's, so not a complete disaster.  The good news is that my store has power and internet, so I can communicate a bit with all of you.  :)  The bad news is that as of 9 minutes ago, New Jersey is on odd/even gas rationing.  Welcome to 1973!  ;)
