That's a nice looking knife!  Glad to see something being made for the UK knife market!

Saw it this morning when they added it, so tempting to just order one.

Finally a 2HO Spyderco...  :ahhh :ahhh

A collaborative effort of Danish knifemakers Jens Anso and Jesper Voxnaes, the Pingo was specifically designed to conform to the knife laws of Denmark, which prohibit both lock-blade folding knives and all forms of one-hand-opening knives.

Funny thing is that our crown prince Frederik's nickname is "Pingo", from when he was in the army...

I might gonna get one and only time will tell what else can come out of this..  :tu:

I'm in the US and I want one too!  That's a sweet little knife!

Now, I admit I'd prefer it with a regular size Spyder-hole and a liner lock, but I love the shape of that little blade!  It's like a mini Rock Lobster!

Interesting.. but since it's not a one hand opener and it doesn't lock I think I'd rather carry a sak to be honest. Not sure what the advantage this knife would have over even a simple sak. Maybe that's just me though.

For me, the advantage would be the sturdiness of the blade compared to the main blade on a SAK.  Especially with the sheepsfoot blade, I'd be willing to use it for cutting tasks that I wouldn't want to use a SAK for.

That said, a SAK does meet about 98% of my EDC cutting needs, so while the Pingo is a very cool little knife, I really don't have a genuine need for one.  I had a Dragonfly 2 that I was (and still am) very fond of, but I found that I got more functionality with a Compact.  I just don't encounter cutting tasks that are heavy enough to require a blade like a DF2 or a Pingo on a day to day basis.  I gave my DF2 to my wife for her lightweight backpacking gear, and she loves it.  I'm glad that at least it has found a good home and use.   :tu:

, I really don't have a genuine need for one.
If I only got the things I need, I'd only have my Sideclip and maybe a SAK.. ;)

I've been reading a bit about the Pingo and it seems that Spyderco is working on another slipjoint for the Danish market, called SpyDK with the traditional spydie shaped blade.. But in the mean time I'll probably get the Pingo, not because I need it but because.. Well you know.. ;) :D

Heinnie Haynes, probably the best dealer in the UK, have just started to offer the Pingo - and it's already out of stock.  However, I think the Pingo is on the expensive side (£49.95, $80 or 62 euros) for what it is compared with most SAKs or something like a British Army knife, which also offers a pretty good sheepfoot blade (but with a lot more bulk, I'll admit)  While I like the Spyderco Kiwi 3 and their other Slipits, I'm pretty sure the Pingo is one that I won't be ordering.

I kind of feel the same way. Clipped but 2HO kind of cancels themselves out in my mind, the blade shape is great, but why have the back end shaped that way so there's a little "peak" showing out of the pocket, and the robust blade shape doesn't seem to marry with what looks like a two fingered grip

Nice looking item, but I'll not be queueing up for this one

If folks want a nice non-locking sheep's-foot blade do have a look at the CRKT Edgie.  It is OHO though so not any good for the Danish market. :-\

I have to agree with that statement. If I'm going to be limited to carrying something that small without a lock, I may as well stick with a small SAK. At least with a little SAK like a clasic or other 58mm, I'll have scissors and SD tip nail file.
Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

I like it as it's like a mini rock lobster but I wish it had a lock. :(
