Getting learn'ed
on: November 04, 2012, 08:04:09 PM
While out flea marketing this weekend i saw a quite a few axes, hatchets, axeheads. Some $ and some $$$$.  I got the want for a good piece of axe.  ::)
Trouble is i don't know anything beyond Wetterling, GB and Fiskars. Best time to get educated on markings, makers, and styles.

Not sure if anyone has seen this link on old axes

Some of the axes i saw out there had some nice makers marks. Others had none. I know i saw Plumb, Defender, Sager and a lot of Kellys.

Nice link Pacu   :salute:

My advice when buying axes;

The older it looks the better and maybe avoid anything that looks like it has been sharpened on a grinder (might be OK but might have softened the temper of the steel)

Oh and look down the end of the poll/eye to see if its squashed out of shape  ;)

Good luck Mate  :cheers:
