SAKaholics anonymous thread.
on: November 07, 2012, 12:35:18 PM
I know there have been threads on this in the past. But the one I found came up with a message telling me to start a new thread when I tried to reply...

Anyway...

Hello my name is Peter and I'm a SAKaholic. I was clearing the mailbox today and there were four in there... When I was leaving feedback for them I did a quick count of the ones that are still in the mail on their way to me...
17 Still to arrive!!  okay, 12 of them are in one lot, but I also still have bids on 4 more....

I need help...   So what do people find is the best method of display/storage?

but seriously...  damn addictive little hobby isn't it?   and I thought RC helicopters chewed through the money.

My name is Konstantinos and I control myself.
In fact I am an addiction speSmurfpillst and I might help.
First step: You must admit your problem.
Second step: You must stom acquiring SAKs, just for today
Third step: You must get rid of all your SAKs (cue exposure leads to relapse).
Send them all to me. I'll keep them for you.

I do have two in my eBay watchlist though and I might fall of the wagon soon. Like in 11h 25m 29s and counting. :D

I don't hide SAKs around the house, no, not where my wife won't find them.

I'm grand, not a bother. Sure it's only a couple, it's not as if I'm buying ALOX!

And money is one thing, but also: time! You don't buy 17 saks in half an hour.  It takes time to visit all the websites, fora, blogs, auction sites...  And I noticed you have to be quick these days: interesting items are sometimes sold the same day. So you have to check every night.  Like I just did. Oh well, didn't buy anything today but saw some really interesting stuff. Maybe tomorrow, if not too late...

Hello, my name is Daniel, and I'm SAKaholic.

True story: I had a dream once, about a poor, abused SAK with a hole in its cellidor scales... I felt so sorry for it!

Doc, is it bad if I dream about SAKs?

Ive been on buying hiatus for a few months now, but I have still got a few here and there trickling in.   In the beginning though it was wild, Id have at any given time 20 saks in the mail en route... that went on for the first few months of this year.  Alot of random alox models mostly.

The suffix "aholic" has come to imply people who have an addictive relationship with a substance or activity which creates problems in their life and eventually takes over their life. I do not have a problem with SAKs or multis. It is not an addiction, it is symbiosis.

*nods*

As ironraven said, if I start to dream about them, and can't wait to get my next SAK... SAKaholism in its early stages, possibly... it might be taking over my life. Which may, or may not be a bad thing.  :ahhh

Well, alcoholic is the one who drinks more than his doctor. :)
And since I have the less SAKs here you should all have some months in a clinic!
BTW, I dream of SAKs too.

Just to annoy you all, I'm not a SAKaholic  >:D >:D >:D

I went through a phase of pointing at them all and going "I want that one! And that one! And that one!". Basically I wanted everything that had something different about them. Now I've figured out what works for me and what doesn't, I'm actually starting to reduce the number I own. Out go the 108's and the 111's, out go the backsprung Phillips, one 130mm is fine, alox count is one at 58mm and three at 93mm (and one of those is a spare still in it's packaging). Even some of the stuff that falls within the realms of what I carry is going.

I don't like to be without a SAK on me though - but I don't consider that an addicition - just wisdom  :D
