Multitool Advertisements
on: March 09, 2008, 02:08:24 AM
Prime77 has sent me a bunch of multitool advertisements, many of them scanned from old issues of Backpacker Magazine. I found a few of my own as well, most from various outdoor publications. The advertisements are all posted up at the Multitool Encyclopedia HERE.

(Many of the ads posted are from the late 1990's and are rather unique!)

Does anyone have other ads that could be posted? I know there are lots more out there. If you've got a scanner, please scan the magazine page and send it to me. Or better yet, if interested I can walk you through the process of posting it yourself.

Thanks!
Bob

Thanks to you guys for taking the time to do this. I really like to see the advertisement ideas that get thrown out there by multi-tool companies. It's kinda the closest thing we'll have to multi art.

I saved these from the Gerber homepage a while back, I'm not sure if they were intended for print or just for the internet.

I have more to scan once I have access to a scanner.

I'm not going to recommend shaking hands with someone from Gerber's marketing team.

Sounds like someone needs a new and improved Multi-Plier® 600 with the Patented Saf.T.Plus locking system and Tungsten carbide insert cutters.

Personally, I think those Gerber ads are the greatest! :D

Thanks Spoon! I'll get those posted right away. And yes, please send me some more scans if anyone has them. Unfortunately I don't subscribe to any of the magazines where these ads are typically found. :-\

edit: Spoonrobot Gerber ads are all posted. Thanks again! :)

Look for Leatherman ads in any issue of Nat.Geo Adventure magazine :multi:

FUBAR is one of those words that is fun to say. I'll have to start using it more often. (Lots of appropriate occasions at work I can think of)  :)

There's a gentleman who posts on Bladeforums who either resides in Russian or is fluent in the language. I believe he's also posted here at least a few times, if I remember he had some awesome Charge pictures. If I can find him I'll shoot him a PM.

I'd really like to know how well these are going over with the general public. For years and years it always seemed like the ads were getting more artistic and using less words. The latter appears to have been thrown out the window by Leatherman's marketing company.

I wonder too Spoon. Also with this ad you can see LM targeting different markets. I found this ad in Mays Audubon magazine.

Anybody experiencing any delays in loading that index page? It works fine for me, but I worry about load time for folks with slower internet service. :-\

It does take a few seconds to begin loading, and it takes a while to get all the pics. Are the thumbnail pics on the index page seperate small versions of the big pics or just the big pics "squashed" into the a small area?
