My 8 year old daughter helped me install it. She was fascinated by the whole process.

Day 20

Encountered a hungry tree while walking the dogs. Happily munching on a steel cable.
Used the tooth pick for its intended purpose.

Day 21

Used the knife to remove the plastic wrapping of a sticky note pad.

Day 22

I used the can opener on a pair of Phillips screws to reattach the controls of a standing desk at the office today.

No action shot this time - the folks at my office don’t seem to care about me pulling out a SAK but taking pictures of myself using it might raise an eyebrow or two.

But you can imagine me laying on my back on the floor under the desk tightening screws with a Sportsman and you’ll pretty much have it.

Day 23

Sportsman wasn’t used today. I was at the dinner with the team so I took this picture. The team consists of young kids. When they saw me taking the picture they got quite excited about it :)

Hope this color matches ;)

I used the cap lifter on a stubborn “twist off” cap on some fancy fizzy water at the office today. That thing just refused to twist at all….

I had plenty of problems to chew on today, but none of them could be solved by the Sportsman - it was all code! (C# and JavaScript for anyone interested)

I'm interested! I've been doing software development for the last 20+ years. I worked in C++ for the first half of it, full stack stuff.

Nowadays I am in the Fintech industry (backend Java, Kotlin, Amazon cloud, etc.). I've been busy with AWS studies over the last two months (Solutions Architect certification). Exam is in 10 days! 😅

That's awesome!

I'm mostly a back end/infrastructure guy these days. But I work at a small non-profit organization and have, more or less, become Mr. Fix-it no matter where in the stack the problem lies...  8)  In fact, I think a change of title (don't really care) and salary (do care) are in order soon.

I'm sure you'll do well on your exam! I've spent a lot of time with AWS but never got around to a doing a cert. The current job is all MS stuff so we're on Azure - Microsoft cuts non-profits a really sweet deal, so it's hard to say no.

Good luck!

I think a change of title (don't really care) and salary (do care) are in order soon.

I’m not in IT, but as a general observation I would say there is value in the former because of its potential to impact the latter…

1.  If your internal HR looks at comps/benchmarking to evaluate your compensation vs. market, your title probably impacts this evaluation.

2.  If you’re talking with external recruiters about what market-competitive compensation looks like for someone with your skill set, and or looking at other job opportunities, your title probably impacts these.
