We started our Mont Blanc ascent on August 27th at 1 AM. At some point one of us said that the screw on his flashlight gone loose and he needs to stop and try to fix it. After some examination it turned out he didn’t have anything to tighten the screw, but I had my Forester. In a blink of an eye his really bad stupid flashlight was ready to get back to work.

Sum: buy only the best gear you can afford and carry a SAK

P.S.: we’ve reached the summit successfully and were back at the starting point of the Tête Rousse refuge about 15 hours later

Dream. Wish. Leave nothing undone. Repeat.

I’m sad now  :-[

I was getting great use out of my 84mm, but now that I see this, I’m doing the Wave challenge.

Waves are great, though :tu:

My Camper, who rode in my pocket today, helped me out in troublesome spots as I mowed the lawns.

He likes roses very much. Here he is with a little fresh flesh between his teeth. :P

Took a fan apart at work today for cleaning. The hook on my Compact was very handy for pulling and levering the front cover off and getting it back on again. Last time I did this I needed a flathead screwdriver, but the hook did an even better job.

It's quite satisfying when this little tool actually helps rather than pressing it into service simply because its there.

The toothpick saved my day, my phone didn't charge the battery at all and with only 3% remaining it went on duty....
It helped me to get out all the dust inside the connection and problem solved. :climber:

I used the 91mm scissors to (once again) cut away an ingrown toenail. I'll spare you the pics and the details  :ahhh

The first time I did this was when I was hiking in the Appalachians, and the scissors on my Fieldmaster really saved the trip. To this day I must have Vic scissors in my pocket. Although I should see a doc about this

It was very much a Handyman day at work.

I used the saw to create a makeshift watering wand, basically cutting an angle in a length of pipe to fit over the hose, just behind the rose, taped in place. It works!

Also used the same saw and blade to cut a few cm of irrigation pipe to use as a splint over a nasty kink in a hose, taped in place. It'll do until we get new hoses next month.

Oh and I removed a couple of tree branches with the saw, too.

I used the can opener to extract a broken thing whose name I don't know, from an irrigation line. I have to do this every so often and the can opener is the perfect tool for the job.

Sorry I have no pictures of these minor achievements. These sorts of things are so everyday, and just part of work, that I never think to document them with a camera. Besides, I have work to do...
