I just finished using a Victorinox Classic to make some paracord zipper pulls.

It was my first time trying it, so the pulls themselves aren't great and I managed to burn a finger. :twak:

At least the scissors did a fine job cutting everything and the nail file worked well as a mini marlin spike.

Good usage TDW  :like: how about some pics? I recently did my first ball knot. Had fun getting all the cord lying parallel as I tightened it up, but got something resembling a ball in the end.

Thanks!

I'll be doing some more in a few days (hopefully with a better setup) and I'll try to post some pics then.

I spent part of Saturday building a trampoline for my six year old son. I let him use the in-line Phillips driver on the Swiss Champ and I used the one on the Explorer on some self-tapping screws securing the legs to the frame. Then when it came time to attach the mat to the frame with the springs, the Swiss Champ came to the rescue again. The manufacturer included a small tool to use for the springs that had a hook on one end and a small triangular handle on the other. It worked well for the first 2 dozen springs, pulling tension on them to hook them into slots on the frame, but it started to take its toll on my fingers. I couldn’t get three fingers in to the handle and then only up to the first knuckle. Then I remembered the hook on the back spring of the scissors! I used the Swiss Champ as it had more surface area for me to grab on to and it worked like a dream. Way more comfortable to pull those springs out far enough to hook on to the frame. I think I could have built three more trampolines that day and not had any hand fatigue, all by using the Swiss Champ. Some people might look down on the hook as a useless tool to be included on a SAK, but I absolutely love it and tend to steer away from models that don’t have it. I would have included pictures during the build process, but there was an eager six year old waiting to bounce like a kangaroo once it was finished, so I had to hurry.

A Saturday well-spent Kraken! :tu: :tu:

Great use of the Phillips drivers and hook!

I have also found the hook to come in handy.

I am glad to hear that you are letting your son learn how handy a SAK can be. It is something he will end up getting a lifetime of enjoyment from, and times like this will be memories he will cherish forever! :D

Thanks VICMAN! Any time with the little guy and a SAK  is always time well spent. I try to include him each time I need to use a tool on a SAK besides the knife blade and the scissors, so he can see the different functions and he's always willing to learn. Now his first reaction to me needing any kind of small tool is to ask if I need 'the Blue knife', my CT41 with the sapphire scales that I keep in the kitchen drawer. When I feel he's ready I'll let him pick out his first SAK and he can learn the joys of being self-reliant when it comes to fixing things.

Nice work Kraken!

I don't use the hook very much, mostly because i lag imagination i guess. But i had the same issue with the corkscrew, and i am finding myself slowly discovering more and more applications  :tu:

Good thinking with that use of the hook, Kraken.

I still haven't needed to use any of mine in the wild.  :(

Scraping thorns out of my hand, after foolishly grabbing a handful of them instead of my trekking pole during my Sartech II exam... It hurts so much more when you know it's your own dumb fault!

I agree. To be honest I had forgotten about them. I think I made one in the 1980s. They popped up in Matt Parker's book and I wanted to show my daughter. She was unimpressed.
