Used my Outrider scissors this morning to cut away a payment stub from a bill. It was perforated, but they never tear right. I could have paid it online, but the way the local hospital website is setup is a disaster. It took me less time to write a check, slap it in the envelope, write my return address on it, and get it ready to put in the mail than it did to input all the information online.

...sometimes newer is not always better.  :salute:

I haven’t used a cheque book in 15+ years. There was so much cheque fraud (altered text) that retailers stopped accepting them. Still used by some businesses and you can get a ‘bank guaranteed’ check issued by a branch, but in South Africa, cash is still used 80% of the time, followed by card, EFT, online, etc.

The last week of carrying the Warthog SwissChamp has been quite eye opening. I've actually used many of the tools, without looking for reasons.

1. The small screwdriver on the can opener adjusted the front derailleur on my bicycle. Actually, I use this same tool to adjust many of the screws on my bicycle. It's perfect for vintage bikes.
2. Used the large inline Phillips screwdriver, in the right angle configuration, to tighten down the screws on some hose clamps, and used it in straight mode to attach the base for a new TV.
3. The scissors opened bags of candy for the entire family while watching Dark Phoenix at the movie theater.
4. The large blade opened a few large cartons, cut down a few boxes for the recycle bin, and cut paracord for projects. Tons of other stuff too.
5. Used the file to file down my big toe's nail to relieve some pain while I was cycling a metric century over the weekend.
6. The ruler came in handy to measure the distance between lines on some printer reports I was designing at work.
7. The magnifier and tweezers helped pull an ingrown hair out of my thigh.
8. The Power Combo of the Century, the magnifier and removable eyeglass screwdriver, tightened the bows on my spectacles.
9. Used the pliers to pull staples out of a cardboard box while I unpacked a new television.
10. I took a tip from Victorinox, and used the package hook to pull my bike's chain down while I reinstalled the rear wheel. No grease on my hands!!!
11. Multiple bottles of my favorite IPA were opened with the cap lifter.
12. Used the cap lifter's flathead screwdriver as a quick DIY tire lever while fixing a flat.
13. The wood saw cut a length of stick that I used to move the hot coals around in my Weber grill.
14. Used the hook disgorger to stab the last bobbing pickle out of the pickle jar.

All in all, I'm now wondering how I ever lived without the SwissChamp. I really, really love this knife. It perfectly suits my lifestyle, and has provided me with creative options that I never would have been offered by a Leatherman style multitool. It's very much a lifestyle type of tool. The magnifier and Phillips driver layer has proven especially useful. Handy enough that I pulled the trigger on a new Vic Explorer order last night, for days when the SwissChamp may be too bulky to carry. But it would honestly be tough for me to size down at this point, as pretty much every layer of the SwissChamp has demonstrated its value.

I snapped a few pics along the way:

That’s really a heartwarming story Buzz, so great to learn how you’re using your SwissChamp...and it looks great too!  :like:

I’m busy working up to carrying my SwissChamp this week, carrying an extra layered SAK each day. Cybertool tomorrow and SwissChamp Wednesday. Beginning to research and appreciate the SwissChamp a bit more along the way.  :salute:

Used my Serrated Spartan to cut away some thistles from the area around the mailbox. The lady who lived on the property where the mailboxes for the 4-5 houses around me are located passed away a few years ago, and her son really isn't doing much--he probably mows and weed eats the place once a month.  I had ignored those thistles and the other tall weeds, thinking it would be cleaned up eventually, but today my OCD got the best of me--that serrated main blade went through those inch thick thistles like a laser beam!

My son is in a rather old hospital that needs to be renovated (and it will be soon). I used my Executive to remove the whole lock mechanism of a storage locker just to get my €2 coin back :D

It's a very good hospital by the way with the best staff and top notch medical equipment, it's just the building itself that is in a sorry state ;)

Thanks! Somehow, given how stressful the situation was (premature baby boy) those €2 were important to me :)

A couple days ago, I used a Vic paring knife to cut up a thing of ring bologna.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Those are great knives. I bought my grandmother a serrated one at a local store, and it's been used a lot, and is now beat to heck. I need to get about 5-6 more of them.

I spent the weekend at our cabin in the mountains, getting it all ready for summer. First project was to hang a cool bottle opener on the front porch.

Use the awl to create a hole for the mounting screw.

Drive the the screw into a porch beam.

And the bottle opener is hung.

It's pretty cool. Made from an antique wooden level, with a vintage bottle opener and bucket to catch the caps.

Time to open a new gallon water jug.

Use the awl to create a hole in the top of the jug, so air can escape.

Cut the plastic tab so the dispenser can be pulled open.
