A can of Diet Coke with the tab missing? Sacre bleu!  How to open it?

First incision with the awl:

Nice job fullbreakfast. The SAK is the perfect tool for those that think outside the box, or in this case, the can.

Completely agree.  It makes people want to figure out how to use it for as much as they can.  They bring out the MacGyver in all of us.

Autumn is here and today it was time to deflate the little paddling pool.  SAK pliers are good for pulling out the valves:

These days the valves on these inflatables are all self-sealing, which means to deflate them you need to push in the inner closure whilst squeezing the air out. SAK pen works well for this:

I must apologise for the state of those pliers. I clean my tools when I get them dirty, but there are other people in this house who use my SAKs and are not so scrupulous...

That has been my exact feeling (and philosophy) from day 1, as a long time sak user  :salute:

Quick example:

Just the other day i was trying to have a yogurt at work but forgot to bring a spoon...
Just got a plastic water cup/glass from the water machine dispenser, my Compact scissors, and made myself a spoon.
Ideal...? No...
Did it get the job done...? Hell, Yes... :D

The SwissChamp truly is a wonderful knife. I had to do some bathroom plumbing this morning, replacing rotted out brass pipes under the sink. I used the main blade to open packages and cut the tip off a tube of putty. Scissors cut lengths of plumbers tape. The ruler measured some plastic pipe. The wood saw cut the pipe after measuring. The tiny flathead on the backside of the knife cleaned gunk out of some pipe threads. The pliers pulled small chunks of plumbers tape and old putty out of some tight spots. The Phillips screwdriver reinstalled the tap hardware. I even used the cap lifter’s flathead screwdriver tip to pop the top off of a can of denatured alcohol. It was a full tool effort, and so incredibly convenient to have at hand.

No pics on this one as I needed both hands to do the job, but I used the inline Philips driver on my Explorer to loosen a screw on a spring loaded hinge bracket on one of our high volume printers. There wasn't enough room to open it fully, so I had it locked at the 90 deg. position until I could swap it out for the small flat head driver on the MiniChamp that I also carry with me at work to finish the job. It was a team effort and I was able to get it back up and running without having to wait for the service technician to pay us a call.

What did you use your Sak on today?
Reply #6658 on: September 11, 2019, 06:03:58 AM

So my uncle dropped of his old jonsered saw for me to fix up. Needless to say the fieldmaster pulled some sak time! Big blade to chamfer the new fuel hose to make a coned fit. Hook to pull the shutoff wire through and scissors to cut the hose once fitted. My uncle bought this saw new in 1970 and it still, to this day, augers the wood chips! Fuel filter with new hose got her back up and running.

Also, I had to grab a lowly needle nose to pull the fuel hose into the reservoir. Maybe I need my own Swiss Tank! (Shout out to Buzz’s Tank)
