I found a toy 2CV Fourgonnette at the thrift store sealed in a bag. My Tourist made quick work of it.

Is there a life without a SAK? Even for one day? I’ve heard rumors, but honestly - I doubt it.

I’m the meantime I used this little fella for it’s intended purpose

Used the can opener on my Swiss Champ to gently pry up the stuck lid on a canning jar so as to break the seal.

So after some painting a few days ago, some screws got covered and glued (with paint) and I used the pliers from the Swisstool to take them out together with the awl to clean the screw heads so I could used them again for installing new curtains using the philips.
After that the pliers were dirty with paint, and it sucked to clean them, but SAK to the rescue: first the corkscrew, somehow effective, but i still needed something that could go trough the slim teeth of the pliers, and that was the microscrewdriver.

Next time, try the tweezers.

Nice tip, couldn't remember it.
Today just one use: Wenger claw can opener for cut/pull some plastic around a unmounted shelf.

My Champ's large slotted screwdriver doubled as a pry bar today. I needed something sturdy and thin to slip behind the edge of a plastic cover and pry it open. Success!

Champ plus with Silver Tech scales is having a busy Sunday.
1st it was needed to observe breaking of some old garden furniture.

Then it was to observe slicing down some man sized cardboard boxes.

Finally it got fo do some work and opened a bottle of wine

Nice score! It's difficult finding any diecast at thrift shops here, whether it be small operations or major chains like Goodwill.

Can opener duty on some San Marzano tomatoes for spaghetti alla puttanesca

Edit - the work was done by my sweater-pocket Sportsman. The Alox Bantam's job is Amazon pkgs and beers, but today it was just being SFG in the background of the shot.

Well since some stores are opening here in Ukraine and we have this pause to get better prepared for whatever may happen next - I've been buying some things we may need and... I used my beloved Work Champ to liberate a Swiss Champ from it's plastic prison

For the time being Swiss Champ feels more like a toy next to a Work Champ, but I’m sure it’ll prove it’s worth in the future

What made me finally go for it after years of doubts (because of the short main blade) was a pen, a pin, a ruler and a magnifier - things I do use in the urban environment from time to time and don’t have on a Work Champ. So yeah, we’ll see

Nicely done, Alexanderre! I can see what you mean about seeming like a toy in comparison, but I do find the magnifier really useful (a case of always being blind, now aggravated by old age!) - I have a SwissCard in my wallet just in case I don’t have a knife with a magnifier on me. Best wishes for the future…. :tu:

Thanks, Rizio I usually use magnifier to examine electronics - a small hobby I used to play with on weekends before the war - only bought a proper soldering iron and a smoke extractor plus some other gear and then it all started sadly

But of course it can also be used as an emergency fire starter and I’ve thought about it as well. Also bought a ferro rod for that purpose

I wish they'd add those things to the mighty Workchamp!  I'm surprised that Vic doesn't come out with Plus scales at least.  Great job Alexanderre :tu:

Oh absolutely that would have been my perfect SAK

Meanwhile a Work Champ supervised fixing an outlet here in this rented apartment. It’s an outlet for the washing machine that was pretty loose since we moved in and until today I had to manually push it back into its place every now and then. Swiss Champ dealt with it just as good as a Work Champ would have

In the pictures the length of the large Phillips seems different between the two - longer on the Swiss Champ, but in reality they are pretty similar, while the one on the Work Champ is surely beefier.

Anyway, first Swiss Champ mission accomplished

P.S.: for years I’ve been pretty skeptical about the main blade length on a Swiss Champ, so today I’ve also tried to cut bread with it. Worked surprisingly well - yes, two cuts were needed - one for each side, but since the blade itself is thinner - it slices pretty well

Though just now I compared two blades making salad - hands down the Work Champ wins for me

Face it - you’ve missed me, right?

Used ruler on my new Swiss Champ to measure width of my foot before confirming an order of a pair of Crocs. Awesome campsite asset for when you need to change from hiking boots to something more light and breathable. I hope I’ll only need those for hiking later in the future, but again - we have this tiny pause in the war so we are doing our best to prepare for all sorts of scenarios, including being on a constant run with all your possessions on your shoulders
