New Gerber that I picked up.
on: January 05, 2014, 05:41:28 AM
Hey guys.  I'm new here but I love multi tools.  I went to the gun show and picked up this Gerber I thought was a nice pick up for $15.  What model is it?  Was it a good buy?  Any info would be welcomed.

Welcome to the forum!  :salute:  What you have there is a Gerber MPT, the Military Provisional Tool.  http://wiki.multitool.org/tiki-index.php?page=MPT  The original sheath too!  For $15, I'd say you did pretty good.  :tu:  What sort of shape is it in?  Gerber is known mostly for their sliding-head plier designs, but the MPT is a pretty neat piece.

Welcome to MTo,  that is a great looking sheath first off and the tool as mentioned is a MPT and looks to be in very nice condition so for what you paid I say  :tu: well done.

its in really good shape.  A bit tight to open and close but it will get loose over time.

*cough*

Top row, first spot on the left.

With that said, it is a pretty good multitool, and definitely a bargain at $15 in that condition. :)

Likewise, welcome to the forum.

That is a nice acquisition of the venerable MPT. I do believe that was Gerber's answer to combat the Leatherman PST for military contracts...but failed in that regard.

If you are looking for more info on the MPT...
