Watching The Last Starfighter right now.  Loved seeing this at the cinema when I was a kid, but I have to admit the special effects haven't really stood the test of time. :dwts:

One down for the night....  :D Monty Python and the Holy Grail - 10/10 (of course).  I haven't sat down and watched the whole thing in some time.  Turns out I really didn't need to - my friend Jon and I have pretty much the entire movie memorized between the two of us.  His wife was less than impressed.....

Dark Knight Returns, part 1
hmmm.... 7/10, I guess.

This is the animated adaptation of a graphic novel from the 80s... Which along with Watchmen, really changed comics. It was missing the internal monologue of the source. Some of the best lines from the comic came from that internal monologue, and its absence as well as a few changes, made it less than perfect. I'd still recommend it though.

Edit:

Just finished Moonraker. 4/10
Terrible. Not so bad that I couldn't finish sitting through it, but no better. This is Bond at the height of Roger Moore cheese.

The Hunger Games - 5.5 out of 10. Predictable.
Dredd - 6.5 out of 10. Much better than I thought it would be.

My wife has gotten into Python slowly.  It started a while back when she decided she liked A Fish Called Wanda and the follow up Fierce Creatures, neither of which were Python, despite starring John Cleese and Michael Palin.  That lead to watching Fawlty Towers at which point she declared herself a John Cleese fan.  Then she called me one day to say she was at the store and found The Meaning of Liff for $10 or so, and did I want it?  I asked if she was interested in it, thinking she shouldn't spend money on it just for me... she said she liked John Cleese so I told her if she bought it she would have to sit down and watch it with me.  She bought it, and to her credit, and despite it being one of the weirdest Python movies out there, she sat through the whole thing.  I think she liked it, but wasn't sure what to make of it.

Eventually she bought me the boxed set of Flying Circus and all the movies and we watched them all back to back.  She's a Python fan now, but not enough to recite them by heart like some of us other hardcore cases, although she does start giggling every time you say "The Larch" to her.  :D

Well, I take it back.  I mentioned The Larch to her earlier and she just looked at me like I was speaking Chinese.

Full Metal Jacket
10/10

Holy Smurf... I'd forgotten how good, how sad, how disturbing, heartbreaking this film was. And how much I hated basic training.

I remember when I was in my teens, and thought I was a total emotionless stone cold bad-@$$, seeing 'A Clockwork Orange' and being genuinely disturbed. Then shortly after seeing this for the first time. I had somehow missed the irony of this group of young men singing the  themesong to the Mickey Mouse Club at the end. The whole movie is a murder of their innocence. Ugg... beautiful and terrible.

Vincent D'Onofrio's delivery of his final lines are one of the best and most horrifying in film history.
