think i should order some of these to hang my Helko from my other posting? From what i've read they make the axe head much less prone to becoming loose as time goes on. They look  8) too.

anyone else use these?

also pics above shamelessly acquired thru google.

I do, on axes and hammers. :tu: They push the wood out towards the metal and secure the head to the  handle. My grandfather used to use nails but these do a much better job. :salute:  They come in various sizes, round of oval too, so make sure you don't get a too small one.

Have you tried them out yet?

Here's one I used when I rehandled a hammer.

OK, let's bump this thread a bit.

I went wedge shopping today cause I can't find the ones hiding in my workshop. They are bound to come out of hiding now. I bought a couple of sizes to show here. The prices range is from  0.45 GBP for the little ones to 0.56 GBP for the bigger ones. And tere are even bigger ones available at that price.

These ones I found come round but can be flattened if that's required as shown below.

I still have to go to my favorite hardware store to check what they have. (it wasn't on my way from work ;) ) Maybe I can find bigger ones shaped as the small size here as I find they work the best. :salute:

(the ones shaped as the ones below-but at cheaper prices. )

my hardware stores only carry wood or metal wedges. Only place i've seen round wedges is ebay.  ::)

I still need to finish handling my helko...i seem to be short on time for projects these days.

And my favourite hardware store didn't disappoint. :D Every shape and size. Here are all so far with a Micra and a cm grid for scale. (realized I didn't put anything in the previous pic  )

They had the flat ones Tony bought last week too, in a couple of sizes, from £1 to £1,50 for a 5-pack.

I love that store. :D
