GERBER Devour
on: October 29, 2018, 10:15:31 PM
I have to admit, no one know how to name their products like Gerber... come on, a spork named DEVOUR, should sell itself.
Ok, it bothers me, that the spork and its sidekick do not match in color... shudder.

Anyway, while browsing their site I noticed a few things... they have a "Apocalypse" collection. They also have Badassadors...
Quote
Badassador (noun) – doing whatever it takes, even if that’s everything you got; finding out you have more inside than you thought; out there in the woods and swamp and sea, in it; the act of being Unstoppable.

Gerber really is getting on the "mall ninja" kick quite a bit lately. Most of my Gerber favorites are from the 1990s and before.

I do like the modified church key, however. I pull staples with regular ones all the time. They're good for that, but that pointy bit meant for piercing cans means they can't be pocket carried. Gerber's remedied that with a Vic style can opener. I'd love for it to have had a Vic-style screwdriver tip, though. If Gerber sells the little OPT that comes with this on its own, I'd buy several. Until then, there's really nothing wrong with a Light My Fire and a P-38 in your bag (or a Hobo-type knife, which is in my mess kit).

I understand there's a law requiring that you shout the name as you use it to gain entrance into a building.

DING DONG!

From the comments, it looks like some law enforcement used it, and it didn't work so well  :-\

And one of the comments is basically the ‘looks great, looking forward to adding it to my disaster kit’ kind.  ::)

And the really bad (and funny) thing about it was the department themselves with tax money, not the officers often bought it.   Yet a Halligan bar is capable of all that and more without breaking--and half price or less, and was actually designed out of need 80 years ago by a firefighter.

And what's the funny thing about it--a police department buying a POS designed for preppers and mall ninjas who'll never use it.

Those comments are gold:

"Looks like a great, compact tool. What's the price?" 5 stars... certainly a reliable review :tu:
"This tool looks like the perfect tool to keep in patrol officer's vehicles. This tool would help greatly in an active shooter situations" Another guy who doesn't own it, but gave it 5 stars... I have to wonder what he will do with it in an "active shooter situations", throw it?
"I don't even have this piece of equipment, but I don't have to.[...]", another 5 stars from someone who never held it.

But my favorite
"This is easily the best melee tool in my arsenal for a wide range of uses. A+, would buy again!" Did he just learn the word "melee"? I presume his back up is dual-wielding halberds.

I like the Devour, but I am not sure that I think this is a sensible idea:

Seems like that's kind of pointless, unless you want to heat the spork so that it burns your hand and mouth....

I sometimes pre-heat my coffee mug, so the Ristretto stays hot, maybe they worry about cold food.
Love the facial expression of the "model", she is like "I thought being a model is a glamorous job"
