First MT mod of 2013! Vic Spirit Pocket Clip.
on: January 02, 2013, 07:32:38 AM
I bought a bunch of Vic Spirits from Scrappy and I love the Spirit but it's missing a critical feature, a pocket clip!

I had seen different versions of this mod, using the Wave clip as a donor. I had a couple of LM Kick clips and I went for it.

Instead if carefully milling off the rivet head, tapping it and finding a suitable bolt...I took a more invasive but more doable mod for me. After drilling out the rivet, I took a 7/32 carbide ball nose end mill and drilled out the Plier head, backspring and outside handle/scale.

Why? Because I want to use a LM Charge pivot! It was 1.52mm too long so on the lathe it went

Since the handle was apart, it was a good time to cut the notch for the tab in the Kick clip. A diamond disc on a dremel made quick work of that.

Reassembly and boom! Donezo!

Eric it would be easy enough to make a Ti clip from some 0.045 sheet the same profile as the LM clip.  Since you went the screw and pivot method its a quick swap anyhow! :D  All tools should be made to come apart!

Nice job btw.  You went larger pivot then I did on my spirit, (I did 3/16) but I still haven't got mine back together yet either.  Still working on making a clip/lanyard anchor point and there just is never enough time anymore to get all my projects done.  All the partial projects are neatly stacked in little bins though if I ever get some time.
PM me or email sakmodder [at] gmail . com if you are looking for custom SAK work.

liiikkeee my BO parts ;)

I didn't have a 3/16 ball mill in hand, i have a bunch on the way. This was better anyways, the hole on the clip is quite large and i needed to eat up some of the space.

I hope to swap those blades out tonite and see if I can OHO the blade witha thumb stud. and cut out.
