I saw this online the other day and decided to give it a go. As it suggests in the title of the thread it's a rigid aluminium skinned wallet by TruVirtu which is designed to be RFID to prevent skimming of chipped cards. This particular model is their "Ray" model, and there are other options available too - but this is the one that appealed to me.
It's actually larger than I thought it was when I saw it online - here it is with a Victorinox Yeoman
The inside is actually split into two compartments and the button on the front is .... well, it's two buttons on the front
The upper compartment (labelled papers) has four pockets for notes, receipts, postage stamps, and all the other detritus you'd normally stick in your wallet. I normally carry a few plasters (bandaids) and a bit of duck tape in my "normal" wallet too. On first glance this looks an odd use of space, an certainly an odd choice of dimensions
However, when you open up the bottom (card) section, things start to make a bit more sense. It's actually sized to take two side by side stacks of cards, and the actual number of cars will depend partly on the embossing on the cards. My "normal" everyday wallet also has a few tools tucked in there as backup, and a True Logic ICE Lite II tucks perfectly into one of the side slots. As I don't tend to carry many cards, I might even be able to tuck a fresnel lens in there too
With both compartments opened up you can see that this does allow for a fair bit of storage, however the jury's out on whether the upper half is an efficient use of that space at this time. I'll have a play with it and see how I get along
Of course, I don't try to carry all my tools in my wallet, but this item will go very nicely with a few other items I got recently ...
Not necessarily everyday carry (in fact for me I know it won't be) but I know what my EDC will be this weekend
I think I've been Tango'd
