Recharge
on: September 18, 2012, 03:35:03 AM
This is my first mod but will not be the last one.  I plan to put scissors from the flik(as I wait for a carbide bit to come)  where the saw blade is.  I also plan on taking the rebar's awl, and putting it in the charge, after grinding it down a little bit. All of these ideas has been taken  from metropolicity's  black tide.

Looks good, well done! Out of curiosity, which charge did you use as a base? Keep us posted on the progress!

Thank you, its the TTi I had found 2 of them for $120 online. I was going to use my BO Wave being that was my EDC, but being thatvis still in NC and I'm in New York it was a little hard to do that. Now I don't have to find a BO Charge for the blades.
I was thinking instead of taking the awl from the rebar  I will just mod the scissors into an awl.

if you're going to use the blades from the BO Wave, any chance you might be interested in selling the main blade from the TTi?  ;)  I used an XTi for my ReCharge, but I'd love to upgrade the main blade.

The XTi is upgraded :)

Personally I like 154 to the premium S30. Sharpening 154 is pleasure.

I bet, I haven't had the pleasure of sharpening the S30V:-\, but I'm up for the challenge.

you make an excellent point, Metro.  I've never sharpened the blade on my TTi (since it hasn't seen much use), but I couldn't have said it better myself -- "Sharpening 154 is pleasure."  :)

So i had a little bit of extra time tonight, so i figure I would work on my recharge.  I didn't finished grinding down the awl because my Dremel battery died. Well anyway here's what I have so far hope you like it.

Looks great! How much of the rebar awl ended up needing to be dremeled off?

I didn't measured the awl before hand, but it was about 30 minutes of grinding checking the fit.

I was for the other night and wanted to improve to Recharge a little bit. I would hurt my thumb anytime I use the scissors, so I wanted to time to make a grip, or a pad, for the tip just to make it easier to use. I decided to use the same stuff I use to secure the carbon bit JB Weld. It is a 2 part epoxy that is super strong, I decided to mix up a little batch and sit the tip of it in the glue. I let it sit in the glue for about an hour, only until it was tacky and drive to the touch. I've been set it aside to let it fully dry, after about the day I've been sanded it smooth.  I am going to put another layer on it this time with the 5 minute JB weld epoxy, n dip it in to the glue and then hang dry it. By doing this I hope to get a smooth finish all the way around. adding a layer of glue made it it's a little wider and now its it's in to the saw slot perfectly, and saves me from making a stopper. Depending on how much sending I do on the next layer I might paint the tip. Anyway here's the pictures of what I have so far.
