I can almost understand eating a mammoth steak (aside from the extreme freezer-burn) but the ivory is a paleontological treasure that should be preserved for research and posterity. Besides, other materials are much more durable.
We need a social movement to get ong to make a run of mammoth tusked 91 mm knives.
I called vic today and the lady told me that was very poor and to send it in for a repair or replacement. I mailed it about an hour ago. Ash's mobile on the move.
These are very nice but quite pricey, Victorinox retails them for $215 http://www.knifecenter.com/item/VN53404/Victorinox-Swiss-Army-Mammoth-Tusk-Executive-Special-Edition-Collectors-Knife
Shame about the QC I've got a nice slippy made by Shuggs on BB with mammoth tooth as the scale. I believe it had to be stabilised though, or would probably fall apart! It's amazing material (Image removed from quote.)I made the little bag for it... needed to make it somewhere nice to sleep
For all the newer members here, you should check out mammoth and ivory scales made by ong , how such pricey SAKs should really look like.
ONG does fantastic work but as his hobby, not for sale.Quote from: enki_ck on January 09, 2013, 10:12:28 PMFor all the newer members here, you should check out mammoth and ivory scales made by ong , how such pricey SAKs should really look like.
