Hello from Switzerland !
on: January 09, 2013, 03:52:15 PM
Hello everyone,

I'm Fred, I'm 35 and I've been loving swiss army knives since the first time I've had the chance to touch one (and that is pretty young here in Switzerland).

I started awhile ago to get some interest in old saks and I started by buying a 43 Elsener on Ebay... I discoverd Alox with my own Soldier knife in the army (a 92)

See you around here to enjoy my master level in english  :ahhh

Welcome!  :)

So, what is the general feeling about SAK's in Switzerland, when they are issued to you in the military?

Sure I still have it !

As in switzerland, as a young man, everyone has to spend 250 days in the army, you are not always that happy but...

It is always something that you are proud of as the swiss army knife is a real symbol.

I'll post a picture this evening when I get home.

Glad to hear this!

I believe in Australia (and to some degree in the US), the tools/knives issued by the military are often replaced with something else that the soldiers purchase themselves.

Hast Du schon bei den Flohmärkten nachgeschaut? I seem to remember a few Swiss members finding real treasures there. One member often comes back with a few of the old pre '61 soldiers per trip.
