Hello from Chicago, USA
on: January 05, 2013, 06:53:16 PM
Hey Everyone,

didn't want to be rude and wanted to introduce myself to the forums.

I'm new here and have a side hobby of EDC. Too hardcore and it gets too expensive

This username, i use on other forums, i don't want to mention yet since i haven't gone through all the rules but i definitely have positive feedback on other purchases.

As far as EDC hobby, i'm also a collector of Transformers, a little bit of watches but i'll include that in EDC, and Craft Beer!

Cheers everyone,

-Marco

Welcome, Marco. :salute:

I hope you like it here so far. Who's your favorite multitool manufacturer?

Hi everyone.
Welcome, Marco. :salute:

I hope you like it here so far. Who's your favorite multitool manufacturer?

Well, so far i'm leaning towards leatherman. i have a few micra's. recently acquired a squirt p4 from here and now looking for a deal on a wave/charge. been browsing the forums for reviews and youtube reviews to figure out what i'd want. i've love to have one as EDC, without belt carry but pocket carry. I've been indifferent on the wingman/sidekick series but i've heard reviews that say avoid or definite buy. i can pay a premium for a quality item but at the same time i'd like to get a deal, save a buck as well.

was eyeing a swisstool x but it looks like to be larger than i thought. but it could definitely stay in my work bag and or car so i'm sure i'll end up with a few of MT's.

i'm so late in the game, all these other models are discontinued so i keep doing research. i feel like a looper haha. but i digress.

Welcome aboard.  Lots of useful info here about various MTs (as you have already noticed).

thanks again everyone!

How about the Swisstool Spirit - splendid tool :tu:

Welcome to MTO

i need to see the reviews and differences. specifically, when closed, i didn't like the spirit, versus the X due to the X closing which was flush around the handles.

I find the Spirit to to be more comfortable that the full size SwissTool when using the pliers on both, particularly when gripping larger objects.  The bend in the handles of the Spirit that creates the "gap" when closed also makes them easier to grip tightly (and I have larger than average hands).

Interestingly, the Spirit plier head opens wider than the SwissTool version.  The Spirit is popular with MTO'ersfor good reason.
