I HATE SNOW
on: January 14, 2013, 05:02:09 PM
We didn't have any 24 hours ago. Then it started, and hasn't stopped since. This are pics from a little under 2 hours ago. I think it's time to go get the shovel again. :(

Street to the woods.

Driveway.

Yard.

I'm running out or room here. :ahhh I hope we don't get another one of those 1,5 meters or snow days. :(

I am sooooo jealous!!!!!!!!  I can't wait for our next snow storm (if it even bothers to come).  Our friends over in Newfoundland just got hit pretty hard.

The pristine freshness of new-fallen snow is the best medicine for anything this dirty, dirty world can throw at you.

I have a love/hate relationship with snow.  I agree with the major inconvenience it can create, especially dealing with shovelling/plowing and driving to or from work in it.  I live 22-ish miles from work, so it is no fun in a snowstorm.

However, I can't argue with the beauty of it all (while it's falling and fresh afterwards), especially if I'm watching it fall from inside my home, knowing I don't have to get out and drive anywhere.

Wish I could take credit for it, but it's someone else’s...

I thought it was a great concept though... and in any case here in Spain although it did snow a bit earlier you'd never know as there's no proof on the ground at all, it just looks like it's been raining all day (which it has, for the most part)

Ah right... though it was very "you" :D

Most of the snow has melted here too as it rained all day on and off. Just bathed the dog who was ttally covered in mud from the park!

This is kind of totally off topic, but you guys seem to know your star wars. This might be considered heresy, but I'll ask anyway.  In wich order should you show the movies to someone who have never seen Star Wars before? I am leaning towards 451236 (watching 123as a flashback that tells the story of Vaders fall to the dark side. This way you dont ruin the plot twist of Vader beeing Luke and Leias  father. This order was one I found online, but I have tried it and it works well in my mind)

It's tough for me... I think it has to be 456 123... It should be 123456... but for obvious reasons if you see 123 before 456 the special effects of the prequels sort of make the original trilogy look a bit lame.

I would be perfectly happy going 456789 and forgetting 123 ever happened...

Good point about the special effects difference.  I have actually seen all of them, but it's been a long time since I've seen the original trilogy.

The difference in effects is a little problem. But the effects of number 6 is pretty good. So with 451236 you start with bad effects in 4. Then better effects in 5, great effects in 123 and pretty good effects in movie 6.

I wouldnt mind some snow.  We got rain and melted all we had here.  I 'invested' in a snow blower a couple years ago and have barely got to use it.

That is not a bad thing!  Some years in Michigan, I had to use mine twice a day and that sucked! :D

This year we had one storm that dropped about a foot and that was all we got so far til yesterday/today we now have about an inch.  Just this past week, the temps got to around 45-50 and melted what we had.

5 yrs ago we got so much snow I thought i ws going to have a heart attack shovelling out.  Then I swore Id save up and buy a blower.  I did, and never has it been that bad again since.... but who knows maybe the winter will come back in force before its over.

Doesnt that just figure but it all comes down to the same saying we use when it comes to our knives and mt's.  It is better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it! LOL  :tu:

I still shovel alot and only break out the snowblower when it heavy snow or over 5-6 inches deep and blown into drifts!  Shoveling is good exercise but nowadays for me, it is more tiring! :D

I generally don't mind snow.  I went to college near Rochester NY, snow is just a fact of life up there.  The first time it snowed when I was at school, I woke up and there was 10 inches or so on the ground.  I thought, "Great!" and went back to sleep.  A few hours later my roommate came in and told me I'd missed two classes.  I told him, "Look outside!  How can they have classes?"  He asked me, "Where are you from?  They don't cancel snow up here for a flurry like this!"   Today was in the 40's here, I was actually outside in a T-shirt for most of the day.  Not what you'd expect on January 14th.....

2am, snow been pelting down pretty good for a few hours, sticking now, without the sun melting it... looks like it might hang about for a day or two... tomorrow will be chaos...

How can you possibly hate that white, wet, soft, sometimes even fluffy wonder?
Meteorologists say it's going to snow until Sunday Nikola, good luck with the snow, however I'd LOVE to be on the north like you! It's a fact your back hurts pretty bad after all that shovel-work but hey, later you can jump into the pile of snow from the roof  :D
