Good Afternoon…
on: January 13, 2013, 04:20:21 PM
…from a sunny but very cold South Somerset. :D

I'm Rory and I'm and alcoh…wrong forum!

I have been reading the forums here for a few weeks now and have only just managed to register via Facebook because when I tried to register directly I kept getting rejected as spam. I am a collector of odd things including billhooks, sickles, paraffin stoves, petrol stoves, axes and knifes, MOST of which I can find :-\. I also own and drive a 1957 Series One and a 1965 SII Landrovers.

I have just bought my first Leatherman, a Skeletool in orange, to replace my old British army jack knife which I carried at work.I have a couple of other multitools somewhere which I hope to find again soon.

I hope to be able to add to the knowledge found here soon.

Welcome Rory.

I am also a Land-Rover guy.  I had (now sold) a 67 IIa (single speed wiper motor, squirrel cage heater) SWB.  I now have a plush Series III 109 three door with Fairey OD and tropical top, deluxe dished bonnet.  I have rebuilt both (which now sport galvanized chassis).

I think MTO is a perfect complement to Land-Rovers :)

Btw, are you running the original engines in both?  I actually have a series II ( not IIa) motor in the workshop :)

Thanks again or the welcome.

Rearding the rovers. Daisy still has a 2Ltr IOE engine  and is fairly original, all the numbers tie into her being built in 1957. Rose, again, is fairly original with a 2.25 petrol but as she is ex army it might not be original. She served with the Lancashire Regiment and was demobbed in 1973.

Regarding the orange. I suspect it will weather nicely with use but as it is just a tool ,and one that gets used, it's to be expected.
