A cheap way is to rub neutrogena or some other moisturiser in them :), plus they then smell devine :D

Try this stuff:
http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=4516&memberId=12500226&storeId=226&catalogId=40000000226&langId=-1

I've used SnoSeal for over thirty years on leather boots, sheaths, etc.  Really good stuff.

Decent leather products will last indefinitely if you SnoSeal them once a year.

Besides waterproofing, it makes the leather far more abrasion resistant.

Sheath for what? If you don't NEED it to stay soft I'd just wax it, makes it pretty much waterproof and tough.
