So what would you guy's recommend for a good, solid woodsmans axe ???

For my part I'd love to get my grubby mitts on a Grandsfor Bruks Scandanavian Forrest Axe one day :)

What about you guys ???

And pictures please :)

Sorry, no pics, but i've heard that the Fiskars/Gerber brand are very good axes considering the price. Another good option would be the Wetterlings, not as good as GB, but with a little work you can have a very decent axe.

I have had pretty good luck with my Estwing Hunter's Hatchet.I am sure that their Camper's model is just a good.

A friend recently turned me onto the Fiskars splitting axe.  Oh man that thing is great.  I know you're not looking for a slitting axe but dang I need to give it credit since it works so good.  The quality is great and my buddy has the regular chopping axe as well and he loves it so I'd suggest looking at it.

well it happened  >:( I was going to get another wetterlings, the 18 3/4 one they have,
a friend was going to get a good price on it but it's been "out of stock" for the past few
weeks/months and now the prices have doubled!  :twak:

it seems GB bought them out and didn't like it being less expensive to they fixed that! grrrrrrrr

That kinda sucks that they went that way with the wetts. I actually like them better than the GFB because of the price, They also polish up real nice!!
