Yep, and in between the old Le Depanneur tool and the current Wichard tool, there was the Au Sabot X2:

Wow def, your tool has three slip joint positions. I bet it opens wide.
Does the wichard tool have three positions?

50ft-trad
I found two retailers. One for 127 and the other for 97. I had a coupon and paid 82. Which is 49.2 pounds.

Not actually my picture, but thanks anyway! :D

I don't have mine available at the moment, but I'm pretty sure the Wichard has two different slip joint positions, as opposed to three on the Le Dep.

By the way, while you are searching for Wichard tools keep your eye out for the glow-in-the-dark version. 8)

HandyBoy belonged to my father he carried one while in Korea.

Slip joint pliers, adjustable wrench
screwdriver / pry bar.

I saw a complete set once it came with a leather sheath with a fix blade and a marlin spike about 4 inches.

DRAWER QUEEN NOW.

Yup, it's got a hell of a jaw on it.  I'll measure it when I get a moment, but I daresay it's capable of handling bolts much too large for bare hands to manage so I'm not sure it's really that useful if you get my drift.

Thanks. Every now and then I think about taking it out for a spin but decide against it.

Keep that sucker safe!  While you'd probably never break it, it would be a terrible shame to lose it or have it stolen.  That beautiful piece has earned a comfortable retirement.

They had a model with a Marlin Spike and folding knife, and then one with a fixed blade.  I sold all nine of mine (all NIB) to a knife dealer a couple months ago for a song, since I couldn't find anyone who had interest in them. :/

Think I even had them up for sale here a while back for a short period of time.  Had a whopping ~$35/each in them, maybe less. :/  Dunno if I still have any pictures of them at the moment.

[Edit:  Hell, I still have a box of NOS real ivory-scaled AG Russell Baby Barlows, fifteen of those suckers. *shrugs*]

Wow, that must be a hight speed knife!
that is shame we didn't pick any of those tools up when you had them for sell.
On another note. I recieved my Wichard multitool today. And I have never seen such a blatant QC problem. The plier heads do not line up. Similair to the sog tool clip I posted about on the forums before. But here is the worst part, the slip joing pliers can't be used because the pin holding the two plier halves together is wider than the slide it should go up and down in to move from the norrow opening to the wide opening. So it is always stuck in the narrow opening... I have owned a lot slip joint pliers but I have never heard of this.

 That's a real shame mate. The tips on my pliers are slightly misaligned, but nothing to get upset too about ... but that oversize pivot is a downer  :( Can you pop the nut off the back and open out the transition between the two holes slightly?

That's awful.  The Depanneur version I have is pretty well perfect.  I don't see how it could have been made any better.  I wonder if Witchard started cutting corners on the design after buying it?  I haven't seen a Witchard up close so I don't know what they are like, but that sounds bad.

Here is a picture of the misalignment. Not horrible but I paid 100 bucks for this tool! I originally paid 82 but then the store called and informed me they would not honor the coupon code I entered. So I had to pay full price.
The worst part is the pin making the slip joint unusable. The Store has a good return policy and they are replacing the tool. I will let you know if the next tool is any better.

Hmmm ... see what you mean. Mine is out by about half that much I reckon. No issues on the slip joint transition on mine, but you have got to pretty much open it all the way for the slot to line up.
