This is the only videocam/camera that I have. This can take video in DVD and can also take still pictures. I use this to take pictures of my multitools.

WhichDawg, I also use this cam to take pictures of the wenches. Hehehe...

Eddie

This 2 migipixel fone can also take decent pictures. I took the first 2 pictures above using this. I sometimes use this to take scenery pictures.

I have a Kodak z650 for serious photos, a smaller HP point and shoot model as a "beater" camera, a Panasonic sdr-s10 rugged digital video camera and an older Canon (?) analog video camera.

I'll post pics when I get a chance.

Casio QV-R51 that I've had for 3 years.  It works ok, so I'll keep using it 'till it dies.

I have two digital cameras that I use to take tool pics.  I prefer my old Olympus C-4000Z, because it focuses better than my Canon S3IS at the 2-3 foot distances I typically use for these types of shots using a tripod.  Otherwise, the Canon S3IS is a far superior camera.  Ben uses the same Canon S3IS I have for his pics too.

The white balance of the S3IS is much better.  The pics of the Olympus were taken with the Canon, and vice-versa.  The color of the table is much more true-to-life in the shots of the Olympus.

Olympus Camedia C-4000Z.  4.0 megapixel w/3x optical zoom.

w/accessory lens barrel removed:

Canon PowerShot S3IS.  6.0 megapixel, image-stabilized 12x optical zoom.

I suppose you could use a mirror, then reverse the image in Photoshop.

Like Terry said, I use a Canon S3IS which is good for me as it is full of features, yet quite simple to use basically.

What lens have you got on yours Terry?  I'm looking to get one.

That's a Raynox RB52S2 adapter.  I highly recommend that one over others--it fits well and is aluminum vs. Canon's plastic option.  It takes up a great deal more room in a bag, but does a great job of protecting the retractable lens.

I just keep a UV lens protector on mine, and screw on different filters to the front of that (polarizer mostly) when I need them.

I'm not sure how much good an Amazon link will do you, but here it is:

http://www.amazon.com/Raynox-Camera-Adapter-Conversion-Powershot/dp/B000BYR3RS/ref=sr_1_1/002-8832859-4203209?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1185565807&sr=8-1

If you look around, you can find good kits with a few useful filters included.

Photoshop is for dumb brainy smarties like Terry!

If you open it in Windows Paint, go to Image, then somewhere in there is has the option to mirror it.

If you have Windows, you have Paint.  If you aren't running Windows, well then you are smarter than I am!

A really ancient nikon coolpix 4500. Althought it's old, the optic on this thing is amazing, picture quality is better than most of the new digital cameras (SLR grade notwithstanding). Also got loads of functions, half of them I've never used.

Mostly use my old workhorse Sony DSC S85 or my wifes DSC W7 for everyday shots and a Canon 20D for better stuff.

It's a good thing they make 'em smaller now, and don't forget to use a tripod.   :P

Although I have few MTs to take photos of (something I plan to fix when I visit Defender in a few weeks!) I have a lot of photography gear as I do a fair amount of concert photography... so in general:

Nikon D50 DSLR
Nikon 18-55mm DSLR lense
Nikon 55-200mm VR DSLR lense
Nikon 70-210mm SLR lense (equivalent to 105-315mm on DSLR)
Nikon 28-100mm SLR lense (equiv 42-150mm on DSLR)
Nikon Speedlight SB-22s

also have a Nikon Coolpix 4600 which does nice macro shots...
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

I have to say, that I am amazed by the quality of the photos that many of you have been posting (including J-sews, Spoonrobot, etc).

Which cameras, lenses, tripods, etc are you guys using?  Do you need a "macro" lens (i.e Micro for Nikkor lenses)?

Just point-n-shoot digicams for me. I'd like to get more into photography, it's just one of those permanent back-burner things.

I use this:

FujiFilm FinePix Z5 in Pink. Color choice was not made by me. It works alright but the pictures are noticeably less sharp then I'd like. Basically I put it in Macro mode, take off the flash and set the settings to Manual to account for any adjustments to white balance.

And this:

Olympus Stylus 720SW. It's neat because it's waterproof, but not actually mine. It belongs to a friend, I have just neglected to give it back after the Blade show. With this one I set it to Anti-Vibrate, Macro, no flash and have at it. Takes much sharper and more detailed pictures.

I also use a tripod for both cameras but it's a very poor model and is deserving of an upgrade soon. I've given up on my light box since the lighting in my front room has been rearranged and now works perfectly to illuminate things with little glare, at least I think so.

Compare the pictures in these two threads:

Spyderco Rescue with the Z5

Gerber Urban Companion with the 720SW

At least to my eye the pictures taken by the 720SW appear much more life-like and look so much better overall.

Oldie but goodie. Resolution is low, only 4 megapixles, but I dare to say the actual quality is better than most new cameras, which has lense literally the size of a penut. Don't use macro lense, the camera do macro shots pretty well, see my pictures about hair splitting in knife section.

I don't have a macro lense for the DSLR atm, the small handheld does have a macro mode, and using a tripod (I have a cheap 20eur one that does the job) and good general lighting in the room helps...

I just got a new camera and from now on I will be using this to take pictures of MTs, flashlights, sunrise, sunset, palm trees, the sky and the sea.

I'm resurrecting this one....

Here's my latest.  I'm really liking it so far.  It's full-featured with all the manual settings I need, and very portable.
