Problem with wave pocket clip
on: January 31, 2013, 12:13:02 AM
I like to pocket carry MTs so I was happy to get the pocket clip for my wave. Unfortunately I am having a problem with it. When I put the pocket clip in the interior tools on that side become very hard to open. Is there an easy way to fix this? And am I doing something wrong?

It shouldn't really affect the opening of the tools, but it could be that the pins have been a bit over tightened or something I guess.

Have you adjusted the fasteners on the tool at all?
I used to come here a lot.

Nothing has been adjusted on the tool by me. When the pocket clip is in it is to the point that my fingernails break before the tools come out.

You have it in the slot by the end of the file ? Mine never effected the operation of the tools. Maybe Leatherman did something wrong ?

Grabbed the house Wave and no issues here. Past oiling I wonder if your tool pin may have been bent or gotten twisted during use. Know the clip fits in a lot better on the Charge TTi, and the Surge the clip sinks in just a tad.

My wave might have some manufacturing problems, the lock on the other handle has never popped out as much as it should. I just don't want a replacement because of all the memories with this multitool and the character it has taken on.

My Wave pocket clip has no issues whatsoever. All multi tools should have a pocket clip this good........ namely the Rebar and Spirit!!!!

If any part of the tool is sentimental to you, write that on the form when sending it in - if you decide to do that. What good is a tool, or warranty, do you if it is not working in top shape? Might only need a pivot replaced, with an adjustment. Be like taking your vehicle in for a front & rear end alignment - just a heck of a lot cheaper.  :D
