High winds last night. Knocked out the electricity. I have been cooking on a Coleman today. Carried a GAK while clearing debris from my driveway. Best wishes. G  [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

A new addition to the herd. A Wenger Gawain/Diplomate (80ies-90ies). Unused until now and came in its presentation box and with papers. Local auction and not expensive. A luxury Traveler with metal scales - without scale tools. It has a very solid and nice feel to it. This one might become a favourite for office duty as it is 85mm and has both scissors and dedicated nail file. Even as a three layer it is only a millimeter thicker than a 91mm two layer Compact.

Been carrying my BY SAK for a couple days. It's kind of like me, still working great but a little work and rough around the edges. I won't say what year it is, but we hadn't made it to the moon yet.

Based on the tang stamp, 1960s would have been my guess. Looks like a great BYSAK! :tu:

Green Danish LE Cadet today. So thin you barely notice it in your pocket and very rarely carried but has done a bit of cardboard box cutting so far today,

I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Modern Compact and a classic Swedish Ballograf Epoca (designed in the late 50ies and presented in 1960) in red.

Which SAK is not getting pocket time today…

Somehow I managed to forget my MiniChamp when I left for work. No idea how I managed that. And I needed it and the flashlight attached to it during the day. Felt naked all day without it.   :(

Did you notice it was missing when you found yourself walking in circles due to the missing counter-weight on one side of the body?  :ahhh

Side by side double barrel here today.

I must sing praise for the vintage Wenger Traveler 1.14.02 (02 = with toothpick and tweezer but without keyring-thingy). They can be had cheap and in my opinion they rival the Victorinox Compact as a daily driver. And... seeing what people pay for a vintage 84mm Climber in comparison with the Wenger Traveler... I paid the equivalent of 20 USD for this one three days ago and it is unused.

Wenger 1.14.02:
Not having the keyring is perfect for pocket carry (and fondling... ;-)  ) - loosing that protuding and annoying little thingy is great.
A real nailfile (compared to the Compact)
85mm vs 91mm - and the Wenger is only a millimeter wider

What is has not:
Pen
Pin
Hook
The screwdriver in the corkscrew

I will be adding a Vic screwdriver to it and a pin. The hook I do not care for anyway. (edit and PS Instead it has the rather useful pointy - but without edge, awl)

Summing it all up (for me):
Loosing the pen and gaining the real nailfile - Traveler wins.
85 vs 91 - Traveler wins.
The millimeter more width is hardly noticeable - especially in relation to the 6 mm shorter length.

Very interesting comparison J2000E

The width difference is very surprising

I am always surprised by how much more pocketable the 85s are compared to the 91s

I miss Wenger 😢

I'm going back to the eponymous SAK for a while and trying out the Victorinox chain. I think I put it together incorrectly. The chain was gifted by gentleman, scholar, and consummate great human being SurgeUK. :hatsoff:
