USPS international price increase
on:

Just went to check on the latest prices for USPS Priority International small flat rate box packages to Australia, as I had read that they were going to cost more.
These were $16.95, now cost $23.95
That is a 41% increase !!!!!
This is by far my most common size of package, so I guess I'll have to take the increased cost of shipping into account when considering future purchases from the US. Smurf, smurf and more smurfing smurf !
Anybody calculating prices that include postage may want to check whether they need to increase their asking price.

That's a crazy price hike
I always factor in the price for shipping (and the risk of Customs charges, release fees etc) when buying from overseas, and that's potentially going to steer me to towards buying locally more often

yikes, those are some big increases... I shipped a box up to Canada just last week for $12.95, now it's up to $19.95.
looks like a similar hike for shipping to the UK as well.
this could certainly put a damper on trades around here.

I thought something was wrong. I went to their site and estimated a package to England a few days ago, then today I went to recheck that and the price it gave me didnt seem like the one I got earlier. I could have sworn that I got a $11.xx price and this time it was $16.xx.
That stinks as now I am stuck with the extra $5 cost, which I will have to eat as I have already been paid for the item.

They already raised the charges from $14.95 a year or so ago.
I'm not liking this one bit. What service improvements are we geting for that price? Will we finally get the tracking back as it hasn't been working for over two years. I doubt it.
And shipping charges raise the price by 40% for me with vat and customs fees.
Very sad.

They are now approaching Aussie Post prices

It sure isn't any service improvements. On Thursday I was supposed to have a package delivered to my store. The mail hadn't come by the time I left in the late afternoon. I checked the tracking and it said "notice left" as if a signature was required. On Friday morning there was no notice at the store, and the package wasn't even sent in a way that required a signature!
And they wonder why they're losing billions of $ a year.......

USPS Priority across the board is way too smurfin' high, domestic or international. At the rate it's going, it's going to be cheaper to deliver your items to the buyers personally. First Class isn't too bad...yet.

Yeah, it isnt just the International rates that went up. I also shipped a package to ND and I believe the actual ship charges and the insurance charges went up.
I had to pay $8.75 for a 1lb 1.40 oz package plus $3.05 for $150.00 worth of insurance!
Sucks!

My official response to this is as follows:
Those smurfing smurfs are smurfing nuts and need to be smurfing kicked in the smurfing balls because they are smurfing smurfs.
Given my recent loss to the Post Oriface I really don't feel like I should give them more money.

Yeah the post office is a bunch of crap! I went to mail a broken watch back to Timex in a small bubble envelope, and because it was at their max of .75" thick, they wanted $12. So I put it in an envelope 3 times the size as the other, but not padded, and it only cost around $1.50.
I wrapped it in enough tape that it would probably stop a bullet so I'm not too worried about it falling out.
