Pocket PowerPlier Questions
on: January 29, 2013, 05:51:52 AM
I recently got to play with a SOG PowerLock, and despite being quite a bit bigger than I like a MT to be, I really liked it. It completely won me over when I got to watch its owner cut a nickel in half, with relatively little effort. So now I am looking at the PPP. I have a few questions, as this tool and its Paladin PT510 brother are not well covered on the web.

1. Are the S44/PT510 and S45 the same, dimensionally?
2. Do the SOG and Paladin have the same plier head?
3. Are their any pocket clips out there that will bolt onto the PPP?
4. Do SOG scissors fit into the chassis of the PPP?

Sorry if all this has come up before; I did a search and could not find anything.

The scissors do fit, they stick out very slightly so if the tool opposite it is flush with the handle then they won't quite meet when closed.

Some useful comparison photos (PPP vs PT-510) on page 2 of this thread:

The ends of the pliers on the PT-510 are pointier (supposedly to make it easier to poke holes in gyproc/drywall)

Thanks for the response guys. And great looking SOGs, as well. That LM clip looks like it was made for the tool!

Zed, do the Vic scissors close up into the tool well? Also, how much modding was needed to get them into the PPP?

The vic type scissors was off a cheaper mt  :tu: i had to grind the front lower section so it closed properly  :tu: they work really well,AHB (allan) sent me the modded lm clip, there is a thick washer under it plus plenty of loctite and done tight, means not so easy to oho but worth it  :tu:
