Kick Differences
on: March 28, 2008, 03:27:50 PM
I was reading Spoonrobot's great review of his Bear Jaws tool and noticed something about different his Kick.

As you can see in his picture below (that I have stolen, sorry), his Kick as a larger bit of plastic on one side of the handles at the pliers end.  I looked at mine (that I won on MT.org, thanks guys) and mine are equal at both sides, exposing a spacer washer.

My Kick is marked 0306 on its handles so is this larger area of plastic a new or old feature?

Thanks

E

Hmmm, interesting. I never noticed that before. Also the words PAT PEND are on my 1004 dated Kick.

Wonder what the date code is on Spoonrobot's Kick?

No PAT PEND on mine, clearly a third model.

First with plastic, second without and third without plastic and with PAT PEND.

I wonder why they changed the plastic part to a metal washer?

Wait, let me rephrase; they probably changed because of wear on the plastic as the plier head pivoted open and closed against it. But if this was the case, why didn't they also change it on other models like the Core?
