I have a Swisstool, do I need a Spirit?

I finally got chance to see and hold a Spirit yesterday and I have to say I was very impressed.

But as I already have a Swisstool X do I really need one? It is a great tool for sure, but will it simply see no use because of it's bigger brother? What are your thoughts?

I've got both as you know, but sometimes the ST is just too big for easy, discrete edc, and thats where the Spirit comes in

It'll handle almost everything that the ST can do, but in a smaller, lighter package, yes it's not as strong as a full blown ST, but I'd say it'd comfortably beat any rival medium sized MT in the strength stakes, it all ready does in the tool load out

, Plus it's so shiney and inoffensive, you'd have to have a really bored, pissed off copper to give you a tug with one of those on you

I have both and am glad I do! Micky's right, when you don't want to carry "big brother" (sounds like your day together right!)
the Spirit is perfect, I edc it all the time.

Mickys always right (when will people realise this

) plus you can just stare at the thing for ages, and find new appreciation for the fine Swiss engineering

Ok, now that I've calmed down a bit. I do have a Swisstool RS and a Spirit S. The Spirit is nice and I just toss it in my back pocket. The way the handles curve it's pretty comfy to use as well and yes it is a good looking multi-tool. The Swisstool normally stays in my truck unless I think I'll need a gorilla tool for something.

Thats the very reason I sold my Spirit . It just sat there not getting used . I think if the blade was a bit longer then it would be more usefull even if it stayed the same shape , the Scissors are not as good as the Swisstool plus no ruler .And thats the reason it stayed at home .
Still a very nice tool and really comfortable to hold . The thing is if you dont mind the weight of the Swisstool then why consider the Spirit . Obviously from a collectors point of view its a must have .Maybe I'm being a little harsh on the Spirit but that just my opinion

I think your right Dunc, if your not using it, boot the bit....ahhh tool!
and obviously the tools/features in your SwissTool are used/needed.
If I could carry my RS as easy, I would use it more.

Now about those other tools your not using....

I've used a Spirit for a number of years, and got my first Swisstool (X) for Christmas. I carried my Swisstool a few times, but kept going back to the Spirit. It just fits me and the tasks I use it for better than the std. Swisstool, which I felt was a bit of overkill for most situations.

I recently traded off my Swisstool. What does that tell you?

In a way your right

I realize nothing at this time is going to replace the Swisstool as my EDC but thats kind of boring , I mean being a mod of a multitool forum and only having one type of multitool is a bit lame isnt it ? I like early LM's and also early Gerbers although the latter I find too unreliable as an EDC .

I've not seen one in the flesh . I have however had in the past a Freehand on loan . I liked it very much and it had some really good features but again it could never become my EDC

I think I am getting the same bad habits as you. I am carrying the Swisstool more and more and very rarely carrying anything else (I do still carry my Supertool though). I generally just vary everything else I carry.
