So, apart from size, has anyone found any other benefits of the Spirit over the Swisstool?

I molested my feminine side. It felt cheap and used afterwards.

I'd say the differences are weight, feel in your hand, and some tools.
Both have the best finish/smooth feel in the hand and tool movement of any I've tried.

If you find the SwissTool comfortable for edc (like Dunc) I can understand your wait.
The SwissTool has more, but it's a tank! I carry so many other things I really like the Spirits weight.

To me, both are the best in their categories (bigger/smaller) and it's nice to have the option of using either.

Now about those other tools your not using....

Well I'm on a bit of a Leatherman collecting session at the moment , dont ask me why . I have two great tools on there way from Def ( more about them when they arrive  ;) )

Dunc

It's because you have finally seen the light.  :P

In a way your right  :D  I realize nothing at this time is going to replace the Swisstool as my EDC but thats kind of boring , I mean being a mod of a multitool forum and only having one type of multitool is a bit lame isnt it ? I like early LM's and also early Gerbers although the latter I find too unreliable as an EDC .

Dunc

Dunc: I personally don't find it "lame" for you to have only one type of multitool. I think you found what works for you and are satified I say CONGRATS.

As far as owning a ST and wanting to buy a Spirit I say go for it. I own both, the ST rides in my car door pocket and the Spirit rides in my awol bag I carry everyday.

There is a great reveiw about the ST and Spirit (I wrote it)

To be honest, no.  I don't like that serrated blade on the Spirit.  I also feel the scissors are better on the Swisstool and I also regularly use the ruler so I would miss that too.

On the other hand, I liked the way yours opened with one hand and the shape of the handles made it more comfortable to use.  I also preferred the file on the Spirit.

As the size and weight doesn't bother me I am really torn.  I just can't really see me using the Spirit while I have the Swisstool.  :-\

Thats fair enough mate, I had a clear need in mind when I bought mine (would have got one anyway :D) and it's not as if your short off middle weight tools to feel the role of a spirit anyway :)

That is very true.  I would say the Spirit is far superior to any of my 'middle' sized tools though.

Well you know I think the Spirit's the best middle weight :D

But if you can get away with carrying the full size ST all the time, then the Spirit is gona be a little redundant to you :)

I think your right.  If I didn't have the Swisstool I would definitely get a Spirit- it is a great tool.  But TBH I am more than happy with the Swisstool so I probably wont get one (don't be too surprised if I end up with one though :D).

Maybe I have found the tool for me and I will never buy another one?

I find my self carrying the Swisstool more than the Spirit. I have really big hands and banana fingers too, and the SwissTool feels more comfortable... I am so used to carrying around heavy duty MTs it feels awkward to carry full and medium size tools.. Like today, I EDC my Skeletool. I felt so naked leaving the SURGE at home.. But, the Skeletool has an amazing ''cool'' factor! Once I get the CX I will carry that one more! Mainly because its black and the 154CM knife steel!!!
