You could say I'm a fan.
My first ever Sak is the grey mag explorer vintage 1989 (I think).

I replaced the scales on the rest with plus scales.

How did you manage to find awl of those?

Wait, don't tell me...

Are you an explorer?

Just got a beautiful 80's prehook.  :D
Got to give this baby a workout... I don't think its seen much action.
I'll have to fix that.

Nice one Doug! I just got one used with box and paperwork. Also pre-hook, early to mid 80's, but has the eye in the awl. The tool stack sequence is different on these compared to ones with the hook.

I will be placing my 30 year old Super Tinker on the workbench, in a state of semi-retirement and begin carrying my Explorer and Pioneer daily

Just got this old NIB Explorer.  Best I can tell it's late 70's - early 80's era.  I'll cawl it my Birth Year Explorer  :tu:

Very nice, Corky!

I love the Explorer but have a hard time with pocket carry as the four layers make it tough so I normally carry the Super Tinker instead.  I wish I could get by that and maybe if I carried it more, I would get used to it.  It has the tools I need as I really use the mag glass quite often.

Maybe I need a custom with the opener layer, blade and mag. glass/inline philips!  That would get me to three layers! :D

Hi Mike

I carried the Super Tinker for the last 30 years. Great knife. I finally got an Explorer and I think the extra layer on it is something I can deal with. Thinner than a Tinker Deluxe!

Had to swap out the license plate on the wifey's SUV so I used my EDC Explorer for the job!  Love the inline philips and I couldn't have done it with a back philips!  Just sayin'  :)

I'm a big Woodsman fan but there's a soft spot for the Explorer with its opposing magnifier and Phillips, one of the features I value most on the five Woodsman, two Champions and two Scientists along with the Swiss Champ in the stables.

Got this red Explorer Plus and added it to the stables . . .

Wanted to do something special with it to distinguish it from the others with magnifiers and Phillips so I put these nice titanium scales on it to dress it up and have something different.

Turned out much better than I had anticipated and I'm extremely pleased with the result.

No, I don't. I would except I don't have the tooling or time to create the precision tooling for making wood scales, and don't have the machine shop equipment to make metal ones. Swiss Bianco had these made a couple years ago along with some copper ones in a slightly different design. Had them for sale on his site and on eBay. Snagged one set of each while they were available. Put the copper ones on a Tinker.

Aight, yeah I've seen some of his Ti scales on eBay. Still makes them but not the same design (I think).
